sounds about in line with any of the top name guys. If it was graded PSA 10 I'd guess $1500 +

The Ohtani is a sweet looking card also in that retro looking uniform.

2023: Agree with you on hobby boxes based on clear pack odds (3,590,000 packs). Disagree on Jumbo.

Black /72 is a hobby/jumbo exclusive - 72 * 330 = 23,760 total. Hobby packs = 3,590,000, odds are 1:262, so 3,590,000/262 = 13,702 black in hobby packs. That leaves 10,058 for jumbo packs, at 1:80 odds, which means ~804,617 jumbo packs at 10/box = 80,462 boxes.

2022: Agree on both your counts (using the same methodology as I did for 2023).

I reversed my numbers for black in hobby versus jumbo. plus I calculated based off black being /71 not /72, but your math checks out better than mine.

Print runs might still be lower because of retail. I have a feeling this will be a major trend with fanatics. It sounds like they are really going all in on the breaker side of things (even creating their own breaking platform) and I think we see retail side continue to fade (for better or worse).

Maybe Fanatics listened to us after they dropped the ball with 2022 TCU.

Maybe hobby (and jumbo) configurations will actually (as they should) be better than retail configurations!!

I assume these are pre-tax prices. Your LCS is taxing.

I purchased a sealed jumbo case from a random online seller for $875 ($145.83 per, no tax involved) shipped. I received a couple other quotes in the $885-$900 ($900 would be $150 per). I only spent 30-60 minutes searching/communicating with random online sellers too. In other words, I probably could've found a better deal had I searched longer.

Just buy online. You might wait a couple more days but you'll save some money and get much better deals.
