The only exception where the rookie debut is more desirable (for me) would be Ohtani's flagship. I prefer the debut batting stance vs #700 pitching.

I don’t know how you rippers do it… I opened 5 fat packs yesterday and got completely destroyed. That was only the second time I ripped anything in 2024, and I think I need to reduce that number in 2025.

Passed on my purple lottery tickets @ Meijer today. Blister cardboard backing all bent way outta shape. So waiting for re-stock or maybe work taking me to a less baseball cardy little town.

Super Boxes for Update are out now. 10 packs, $50. Would be same for 10 Purples. Vs. 5 foilboards & one supersized card. Who ever likes those? Livvy? I’ll take the 10 purples I guess. BOGO50 probably back one more time before Christmas and again over winter.

Hit the Skenes Chrome Stars of MLB insert (fantastic cards this year) with my 2 pack habit last week. Can I retire now? Probably not. Still can’t hit the base, nor any Jacksons outside of Chourio’s great 89 Topps card.

Yeah, those fat packs look so inviting all the time too. We open some hangers over Halloween and have been done since. Felt so watered down. Putting yellows in all the hangers doesn’t make it special like the old Walgreens versions.

I get how it can be fun for people. I knew what I was getting myself into. I was hoping for a big Chourio or Skenes hit. It just doesn’t really scratch an itch for me. Buying a nice single of a player I like and building a small curated collection is what does it for me.

But the main thing is for everyone to collect what and how they like!

My hometown hasn’t been restocked. With 24 Update at least. They have a whole lot of S1 & S2 blisters still. Other stores will likely vary. They have > 250 stores.

I haven't seen very many update purples for sale - I wonder how many of them were actually printed. They aren't listed on the baseballcardpedia page.

It's funny. I have a small group of unopened wax sitting on my counter waiting to be opened. I mean, I have a bunch unopened that I would never open, but this particular group was purchased throughout the last couple of years to be opened. And still it all sits there, staring at me. I think, today's the day I'll get the girls to rip them open and then another day goes by and still it all sits there, staring at me.

No problem at all!

They only restocked 21 boxes this time around (earlier restock was ~500), possibly due to cancellations from the earlier restock.

I've already received shipping notification for my boxes so be on the look out for yours too!

Buy my winter work town 150 miles away proved to have an almost intact sleeve so I snagged 2 more purple tickets.

Seeing this thread made me fast forward opening them. It was exciting to see the word “Pirates” but that one proved to be Joey Bart. Wah wah wah. So was the word “Brewers” PLUS an RC logo……some Pitcher their Rays like bullpen shuttle will just chew up and spit out.

But I did finally hit a Rockies purple - Ryan Feltner. Free PWE if you want it.

Forgot to add: both stores have a large amount of S2 blisters left, and some S1. Neither had Skenes in there of course but overall it feels like the Update print run for 2024 was moderately strong but probably still less than S2. But better than some Update runs, would be my hunch.

Thanks for the offer on the Feltner - I'm only grabbing the Jordan Beck RC purples for my collection. I own 6 of the 8 that have hit eBay so far. These are pretty rare based on what you all have said about restocks.

Not sure how long they’ve been up, but Walmart has the Superboxes for $39.99 currently. I found these to be a solid rip for the price and a lot of fun to open.
