One eBay listing already just sitting at $400. These aren’t going to end well.

We’ll see. It looks like the baseline is $400, and it could go either up or down from there.

Will there be any breaks on here? I wouldn't mind paying for a spot or two and hoping I rank high enough to at least get a numbered card or something..

I joined a rick and morty break on here a number of years ago and that was my only time ever being a part or something like that.. which was really fun! I don't remember what I ended up with but I was pretty low on the list lol

This one will depend on the box/case makeup. Autos/Sketches aren't guaranteed so it'll depend on what you get per box.

Could be like WWE cactus jack where no guarantees drops box prices
or it can be juiced out the gate.

We'll have to wait and see.

Do they ever restock? Or was this just pre-orders?

There seems to be a lot of negativity in this thread :/

I entered for 2 boxes. I probably won't get them and will be a little sad. SpongeBob was a big part of my childhood. I know these boxes are way more than they should be, but that's the market that we are in right now. Everything costs more than it should.

I wanted 2 boxes to open to just have fun opening the product, regardless of the results. That's what the hobby side of all of this is about. I understand Fanatics is pricing people and kids out, but most people who watched SpongeBob since its inception are now in their 30's and have some disposable income.

I haven't opened anything in quite a while since prices have been outrageous compared to 5-10 years ago. This is something I want to open and just enjoy doing so.

Based on the odds, blasters are much more similar to Hobby than most other Topps products, which could explain the fast sell out. It doesn't look like they held back any of the checklist to be Hobby exclusive so theoretically any card that can be hit in Hobby can also be hit in Blasters. You also get the Blaster exclusive Kelp refractors.

Hobby = 12 packs for $250
Blasters = 7 packs for $40

Let's use a base set orange refractor /25 as a comparison (Just picked this at random but the logic seems to work out with a very similar calculation for most, if not all, numbered parallels)
Hobby = 1:171 packs (14.25 boxes) ---> 14.25 * $250 = $3,562.50
Blasters = 1:387 packs (55.29 boxes) ---> 55.29 * $40 = $2,211.60

So in theory, you would expect to spend about $2200 on blasters vs $3500 on hobby boxes to hit an orange refractor (i.e. 38% cheaper to buy blasters).

Autos, the doodblebob sketch, and regular sketches do skew a bit the other way and favor Hobby though.

I'll spare you the detailed math, but each of those you'd expect to spend about 14-17% less on Hobby to hit one vs buying blasters.

TLDR: If you're chasing numbered parallels, blasters are a much better value. If you're chasing autos and sketches Hobby is the better value. At the end of the day, the overall value of the skus is likely relatively the same.

100% true on the above. I sent about 20 SpongeBob cels/sketches to Heritage for their recent Nickelodeon Animation Auction. As I noticed most any SB production art was getting snatched up fast, and for premium money, on Ebay since the year began.

Stuff that was selling for $50 a few years back, was 5 Xing now. I made $10K on my junk. Now I am wondering if fanatics has been buying all these up to use in cards. And maybe a premium SB set is on the horizon, with actual cels and production sketches.

No luck on my single hobby box entry. Bummer as I'd rather not go secondary. If someone runs a PYP break with numerous cases I might chase a couple characters.

Missed on my single hobby entry. At least my "eqLIESer has increased which means you'll have a better chance of winning next Topps launch" lol

No dice for me on 2 hobby boxes. That’s ok though. $500 I can save for something more practical.

This has a much broader appeal than to just kids. The people who got into SpongeBob 25 years ago are now 35+.

Topps is killing it with its recent nonsports releases. I almost think Upper Deck would sell more of its DC and other nonsports cards if it consigned with Topps to do EQLs on its behalf. EPack is a ghost town compared to how people are falling all over themselves at the chance to potentially buy the latest Topps product through EQL.
