On this point, there is stuff that is up. What's down is the hot stuff that everyone was chasing. Bonds cards are up alot in the past year. Kershaw rookies have more than doubled in the past couple years, tripled maybe? Recent sale of a PSA 10 for 660 and I'm quite sure these were around $200 in 2021. There's some specific older modern I bought within the last two years that has more than doubled. If you chased what was hot, besides Ohtani, you're down. But there were plenty of undervalued niches in there that are doing well

An OPS of .861 isn’t going to support a PSA 10 BCA at $1800.

The Tatis index is down 13% over the last month, 24% the last three months, and 65% the last year. His performance has not been good enough to move prices in a positive direction.

I don’t think we are all here for prices (values), I am fan either way, I don’t see anyone moving the needle unless they have statistical breakthrough season(Judge) or just swept a nation by play and culture (Ohtani) very rare examples.

Baseball stats for players can be so up and down. Look how piss poor Ohtanis values were just what 3 seasons ago and prior.

Anyways love tatis as a player along with the pathetic frustrating padres team.

Curious why he's only attempted 9 SBs so far. His Savant sprint speed is still 97th percentile. Protecting runners for the batters behind him? Trying to remove some risk of injury? Padres as a team are upper middle of the pack in SB attempts.

Current 162game pace has him somewhere around 40hr 25sb 6fWar. Been a bit unlucky as his xBA is 30pts higher than his actual BA.

You know performance and popularity are not intrinsic? and prices are driven by hype an popularity.

If it was, Barry Bonds would be the most collected player in the history of everything.

I disagree with this take (but in all fairness I am a huge Tatis fan and bag holder). Will Tatis ever get back to Covid insane peak pricing...absolutely not. But if Tatis is 6 WAR player and top 5 MVP candidate yearly, he will be a popular player despite his transgression and his card prices will rise slowly. He is probably the most talented position player in the game. It will be interesting to see how the hobby views him as time goes on.
