Maybe he will teach patience and the value of getting on base. Career .367 OBP, career high strikeouts in a season was only 88. 477 career walks, 577 career strikeouts in 5644 plate appearances.

Wish we had guys like that
Finally a decent player as hitting coach instead of a nobody.

I wouldn't be surprised if they shook hands with Casey 1-2 weeks ago and told him that his first day is after the All-Star break. And if that's the case, then was he given access to video and data prior to today so that he could hit the ground running? Was Lawson blindsided with the firing or did he see the signs? How involved was Boone on the hiring process? Questions questions......
With as bad as these guys were hitting, if he was blindsided than he's obviously an idiot beyond just being a bad coach.

I wouldn't be surprised as this is the first time Cashman has fired a coach mid-season. Lawson probably thought he still had a few months to figure it out.

Casey will also bring energy. Aside from Volpe's enthusiasm this team often seems dead. If this guy can coach, they might actually have something.

Weren't Casey and Boone teammates on the Reds together? Are they connected?

Volpe does have some youthful enthusiasm but I see the "spark plug" on this team as Bader. He brings a shot of emotion that this team has been missing for awhile. Bader plays like his hair is on fire, plus he produces.

Bader is everything Jackson "Clint" Frazier and his legendary bat speed should have been.

Yeah, Volpe and Bader are both electric agreed. Overall, I still like this team, but like most Yankees teams recently, they all seem to be playing under WAYYY too much pressure, and thereby not having enough fun, not showing enough emotion, not celebrating, not remotely playing to their potential. Of course, there's been nothing to celebrate, but they need to loosen the eff up. Might even help prevent some injuries, too.

Bottom line, if they keep treading .500 water or even start excelling in the second half, and Judge comes back and can still rake, and their bullpen doesn't implode, they will make waves. Lots of ifs, but I'm hopeful if not even confident that some or all of these will be realized. And with a starting rotation that features the ASG starter in Cole, a proven beast in Rodon rising from the ashes, a perfect game pitcher in German, an increasingly impressive Schmidt, and either a healthy Cortes and/or a healthy Sevy, they should strike fear into a lot of October hopefuls.

I want to believe the Yankees are playing the long game here. We'll find out soon.

As if Hal hasn't ruined this team enough with crappy players, he's now ruining the traditions. I read today they signed an insurance group, I believe, until 2031 to be sponsors if Manfred's new crappy jersey advertising.

Saw this on Twitter:

In the last week, the Yankees:

-3rd player in recent memory suspended for DV
-Position player pitched for 5th time this season
-Lost home series to the Cubs for first time ever
-4th place in AL East
-No playoff spot
-Fired/Hired Hitting coach for first time under Cashman
-Uniform Ad

This isn't Yankees you grew up with.

Certainly not, do you think there were more true Yankees fans in the old days or nowadays.

I'm beginning to think it was intentional to hide monument park at the new Stadium. On July 4th Gehrig's speech was barely mentioned while in previous years it would dominate the broadcast. Traditional is intentionally being downplayed. Speech over. Now let's talk about our crappy hitting.

Never heard of that insurer, they seem to focus on property and casualty, Hal must know them from the shipping boats.

Great question and I honestly don't have an answer. I would imagine there were a lot of new/bandwagon fans during the dynasty but also a lot of generational fans were made as well.

The Yankees haven't truly "sucked" since the early 90s so there's not really a time in recent memory that you can point to and say "Yea I was around for that" which would separate you from fair-weather fans.

Who knows maybe we are entering that time....

I guess we should be happy it wasn’t Chico’s Bail Bonds.

I have been a fan since 1968 started my fandom during some lean years. There was only one other period since I became a fan in which they were hard to watch and that was the late 80’s early 90’s.

I am at the point where I would take 2 last place finishes in a row to restore the true Yankees ways.

Obviously the sponsor would be a corporation, but its fitting that its a corporation that pretty much deals with corporate clients. No fan will ever have any connection to this company or ever use their businesses.

I've been a fan since 1984. When they won nothing between then and 1995, I didn't hate the team as much as I hate them now. Crappy owner, crappy manager, Cashman's great moves of old have disappeared, crappy overplayed veterans who can't play, and no spunk on the field or in the dugout from anyone except maybe for Judge, Bader, and Volpe.

I think letting Sir Didi walk was a huge mistake for the dugout and going out and having fun. He started the home run celebrations in the dugout and the tweets where everyone got a symbol nickname. They were always having fun in that dugout and took it to the field.

I hated the Nike swoosh crap on the new jerseys for ruining the traditional Yankees uniforms and I hate this even more.

I always thought it was inevitable to have the jersey manufacturer logo somewhere more visable. Even if MLB stayed with Majestic, they probably would've done the same thing by now.

So that extra 20m in perpetuity means they could have signed harper or freeman or machado or seager or etc etc. No excuses to not sign guys or carry bad contracts instead of releasing them.
