You guys just don't understand. Kyrie is angling for that post-career ESPN documentary and a run for Congress.

Sleep on him now, but watch what happens. I'm picking up tons of Kyrie Irving cards because I know that his post-career isn't going to be quiet.

Kyrie is basketball’s Kanye. He will never be elected to anything. Would he just not show up to critical House votes when he’s having a bad day?

People like Chris Paul, Jaylen Brown, and Malcolm Brogdon get elected to public office. You know, people who take their jobs seriously and work in a positive manner toward change as a group, not as crybaby individuals.

love brogdon, isn't his nickname the president? Jaylen brown too, i like when he held that thing for the rookies during his first or second summer league because everyone was too young to do anything fun in vegas..class acts

The perfect analogy, Kyrie/Kanye. Who is going to be interested in hearing what Kyrie has to say? He's a delusional, self-involved guy who reeks of smug know-it all arrogance. I find his antics immature and tiresome. The other 3 guys you mention are spot on, impressed whenever I've seen them speak. I also actually like Draymond's basketball commentary when he's on the TNT set.

Panini should consider a “My Favourite Beta Male” insert set for the NBA.

To be fair on his part it could be an old video so I will hold judgment on the other hand ... essential workers nurses doctors firefighters policemen have been going to work everyday during this pandemic. after being attacked congress went back to work that night to finish their job. yet this guy making millions doesn't have to go to work what kind of crap is that !?! I'm not a fan of LeBron James whatsoever but at least the guy shows up to play and uses his platform to do the right thing.

But these players are a different breed. Their loyalties are more to themselves so they grab all this money, work less for it and call it the norm. It's the ultimate heist. Because, just wait, they are going to be so fresh for the playoffs lmao...

It's not just these players tho. It's a generation (and a culture). Out w/ the old and in w/ the new. It's not as if this is isolated to Kyrie and happened overnight; the NBA slowly shifted year after year giving more power to the employee and less to ownership. This is a feature of that shift, not a bug and how the NBA handles it will likely determine the next shift.

Assume the best case scenario for Kyrie; videos are old, he's back next game and just needed 5 games off to clear his head (this time). Should the / Will the NBA take any action? I'm of the opinion they have to; to prevent these 2 week in-season vacations for other players down the line but the dust has to settle first before we even know what "this" is.

I don’t think the NBA should play any role outside of punishing him for violating Covid protocols, if true. Levying punishment for going AWOL should be left to the Nets. If they decide not to do anything about it, so be it. But by doing so, they’ve set the standard. So when Joe Harris decides he needs a week vacation, he gets to have it.

Admittedly I tend to side with labor over ownership often times, but unless there is a deeper reason for the absence this kind of thing is ridiculous imo. An abuse of power/privilege, and have to imagine next labor agreement ownership will try and iron out these abuses. Right now teams are in difficult situations when it comes to managing their star players, punishing them risks alienating a player that has tons of power/leverage over the organization...

Who should their loyalty be to? I don't get it.

When it's time to work...work

In this case, to the team and organization that finances the selfish behavior

And just like that he is not expected to play tonight, Wednesday or Saturday for the same reason. Been a fan of the Nets for a while now and I wasn't happy when he signed because of what he did on the Celtics.

If you are Durant, at what point do you throw your hands in the air and ask management to trade him for someone willing to play? I know they are friends but something has to give.

As a fan, I was hoping the Nets would move Kyrie for Jrue Holiday over the summer.

Well Durant should have known what he was getting himself into. So he should be cool with this kind of behavior.

This right here.

KD has made his bed.

He can't be shocked at this. KD probably empathizes with him.

Kyrie doesn’t care about his card values, why should I?

I like the idea of Bron obsessively checking comps on his cards like a madman. Only busting his #$@ to break the scoring record and get a 5th chip to bump up his card prices.
