My guess - someone who saw the insane gobs of money that these were obtaining on 1) direct release and 2) the secondary market.

Making the post in the first place was asinine

And yes, you did imply it, even if you didn't mean to.

Mwheeler was right in his assessment, so you were either being an a-hole, or didn't actually realize it was in fact illegal when you posted. Regardless of which it was, the comment was unnecessary.

Respecting the members of the board would have required you to not make the post in the first place.

Anyways...my Ermsy Trout just came in and she's a beaut

I guess I'll have to remember to start adding the "-2020" to my "2011 Trout" eBay search.

Same concept as using non auto on a non auto card so their card populates when someone wants an auto card.

The Artist Proofs are coming from Topps with a silver frame, and silver number /20 stamped on the back.

I hate that, but it’s slightly different to here. This is a version of his 2011 card. (A version, not a parallel.) Same thing with the Clearly Authentic reprints.

Thanks. I thought that “Artists Proof” actually meant it was some sort of original work, not a standard print base card with a frame and a Topps employees handwriting.

Artist Proofs or simply “parallels”, they are nice looking, rare examples of the base cards. The Golds are spectacular.

How much do you get paid to hype this set?

I don't think this set/project needs any hype.....it's already there.

It doesn’t feel good to miss out on a winner. It makes it worse when you miss out because you believed and bought into all the negative talk.

I’m simply countering the negativity. I don’t carry near enough influence to get paid to hype anything. Thank you for the compliment though.

LOL, this sets stands just fine on it's own. Genius by Topps bringing collecting worlds together. I'm actually surprised that they thought of something this smart.

Im a little amazed by Topps as well. They were willing to try something new & seems to be paying off. But you can guarantee one thing...Topps will run this into the ground and will overproduce it (by bringing it back too soon/often).

You aren't wrong. I was all over these until I started seeing the negative comments and am frustrated I didnt buy them for myself. Now, if I wanted to get them, it's going to cost much more. I still dont believe these will hold up in the long run. The print run is just too high, and like all novelty sets, they hype will wear off. There's no way base cards with 1,000+ PR sustain these prices. I've been very up front about my rationale for this set the entire time. If I have to end up paying 10x+ release prices for some of these in the future, so be it, but I'm willing to wait it out and pick these up when 1) people forget about them 2) people get bored with them or 3) the supply eventually outweighs the demand of everyone trying to buy one now.

To your last point: There's a difference between countering negativity and whoring yourself out for the product.

they are not.
