Any reason to buy up some 2022 S1 and sit on it or think it will be printed to the moon that it won't be worth it?

As for larger Dealers, I have had good success / zero problems with our very own Blowout, Steel City Collectibles, and Dave & Adams. These 3 companies also buy - you’ll get less than if you sell yourself, but it’s easy and quick in case you have an urgent cash need
Thanks for the detailed answer! It's only cause I got burnt buying some retail last year and now i'm hesitant to buy sealed wax again unless I know it comes from a distributor or reputable place.

It's too expensive now.

I pre-ordered a jumbo case of 2020 Series 1 once I knew Yordan wasn't going to be in Update. It's got Bichette too, and a few other decent RCs. It was ~$575/case (6 boxes). Today, '20 S1 jumbo boxes are just under $200/ea on ebay.

2022 S1 jumbo pre-order from Blowout is already $199/box ($1150/case). There will be plenty of this stuff for a long time, so I don't see it climbing much.

Since this appears to be the place for unopened product experts, potentially need to move some inherited bank monies (sadly both in-laws passed away last 6 months, wife sharing everything 50/50 with her brother) next year into unopened product (pass on 2022 series 1 lol) for several year hold minimum. Welcome suggestions via DM...thanks in advance.

Some of my inventory cases
lot's of hi end stuff maybe going via auction in the next few months. An investor on west coast who has bought a ton of cases from me over the last 25 may or may not be purchasing all.
A few quick examples 2009-10-11 bowman draft cases. 2012-13 immaculate bkb cases 2015-16 hockey cases and more. 2001 bb cases and some 83 bb cases Fleer- donruss.
Approx 100 various cases and some box lots.

Interesting that hobby has caught up with HTA prices. They should have been the same to begin with.

The first 2 pieces of what will hopefully be a very fun journey collecting sealed wax. Any tips from the pros in here on how to store them?

Seal in a polybag for short term storage with bubblewrap on the outside if you expect bumps. The polybag is to prevent scuffing the shrinkwrap and also in case of accidental spills. If only using bubblewrap, have the bubble side facing away from the shrinkwrap to avoid leaving marks.

For long term you can use mylar bags but they're harder to find and don't come in many sizes. You could also wrap in acid-free tissue, or any other material that's archival, then polybag.

Some people like plastic bins but plain shipping cartons are fine because the straight sides make it easier to stack the contents. I also prefer to store boxes so the cards inside lay flat and their edges aren't jammed against the edge of packs. Not essential but an extra precaution.

Most important is a storage location with cool constant temps. Paper things don't do well in attics, garages, or storage units where the temperature changes dramatically.

Call me old school. I've been collecting unopened since 2001 but to me,simple is best.

1. Temperature is most important: Keep the place where you store your boxes cool. Avoid big temperature swings, and above all: Humidity!
2. Extra wrap and protection is overkill. In my humble opinion, if you don't "mess" with your boxes and repeatedly move them, they will be just fine with their own factory sealed wrap. Is wrapping them in special paper really making a difference? I have a better idea: put them in a safe place and don't touch them for the next 10-20 years.
3. The obvious: Don't spill drinks/food on them, don't store them in a damp, leaky basement. Don't get drunk and pull them out to show your collecting friends and drop them.
4. Buy prime condition boxes in the first place. Surprisingly, some brand "new" boxes can be banged up. When I buy new boxes from the big three, I always put in my comments: "please send me the best condition box if possible". I've had good luck with this.

NOT slamming others storage methods.

This has served me well: Buy box, put away, store safely, never touch again unless selling.

I appreciate the advice. I have an unused 5 drawer dresser that I was going to put them in to start. If it gets beyond that I might have to go the wrap and container storage route.

A one size fits all approach is ok for short term (under a year) storage. For this, wrapping is overkill. Longer term requires looking at what you're storing. A 20 year old box may need more TLC. Keep in mind any box may have been handled improperly before you received it. UPS trucks get very hot during the day for example.

That means long term you can't always predict what will happen. I have an Inkworks box from 1998, that I always properly stored, and the wrap started loosening years ago like crepey skin.

Since the shrinkwrap is actually cheap plastic, stacking your boxes together unwrapped may get them to react and stick together. It won't happen for everyone but if you're in a humid location where items are often affected by foxing, then extra precaution is worthwhile.

If you want boxes that are in top condition, packed as securely as possible, my suggestion is to branch out beyond the big 3 and either buy local or try smaller online retailers. Avoid D&A as their shipping practices are the worst of the big 3.
