I suspect she's done for the year and they know it. She hasn't even practiced. The way this is being handled, a "new" story about her availability every single game, is annoying.

PS Does anyone know why there are no 10s of her Logo Prizm RC? Some flaw common to every single one? Seems odd.

So look. I use Nesmith as a reference, you get it. But I talk about a much wider sphere of basketball through that lens.

I don't think anyone who has really watched MJ has also really watched Caitlin, and tried to transpose qualities between leagues and situations. It can be done, its not like comparing Wayne Gretzky and Babe Ruth, they at least play the same game.

I'm still wondering, are there similarities between CC and where MJ was at a similar point in his career?

At the prices she's fetching, would consider investing if there was a credible case yes.

Yes, both were injured.

The new July GemRate eBay numbers do not lie. More dollars moved into CC stuff verses any other basketball player. $734K moved into CC cards. $666K moved out of SGA. Compared to the next highest WNBA player, Angel Reese and a long way behind.

There's only 11 games left in the regular season over about 4 weeks and CC isn't even doing full practices yet.

I'd say the optimistic outlook would be CC comes back for the last 3 to 5 regular season games just to get in game shape for the playoffs, although after seeing what happened against the Mercury and Wings I'm not sure getting into the playoffs is a lock anymore.

So if they do get in they will have a rested CC. I mean this isn't as bad as all the neophyte pundits are making it out to be.

.357 to my head, I'd be scrambling to move all hypothetical CC funds into $GDC before things get really nutty.

Google trends indicate her popularity's been heavily superseded by the next successor to the Buttcoin crown.

The Rookie Royalty on card stuff is crazy. People dont care or don't know that it's a Panini Instant release. Even crazier are the boxes going for $8k-$9k already.

A card shop in Buffalo was buying boxes of RR for $12k before the National, so $8k is actually a big dip from the peak.

If they were buying boxes at $12K, they were hoping to sell them for at least $15-16K.

I think CC Mania is more than just a fad, but I don't think it's sustainable at these prices.

You can get a nice Kobe or LeBron auto. A nice Curry rookie auto, or even an MJ auto at some of these prices.

Congrats to those that took the plunge and bought the Royalty boxes for $3K.

it isn't a panini instant release. Just because the cards say instant doesn't mean they're the same as that garbage. You are being disingenuous by saying that.

I thought Rookie Royalty was a great idea. You want any of the key classic Panini designs of CC? Well they are super limited, but available. Dealers must love it.

Was CC worthy of this type of high end product? Cards are not like a Chanel product. Their value ultimately is tied to on-court performance and accomplishments. Otherwise Dennis Rodman would far outsell MJ.

I guess, but I'm simply repeating what haters say. They do say it. I don't think there is a unified round of applause for the product. I like it, though.

It means they were originally going to be released as part of a Panini Instant offering and Panini decided to cobble together a "Rookie Royalty" set instead.

Hey now. Some CC Instant stuff did very well.

Her Draft Night card is still pretty popular considering it had a PR over 45K.

And her autos were fetching $10K+ at one point.

CC might be getting a lot of rest and time to heal as it looks like a lockout for next season is looking like it's more likely than not now.

The WNBA players turned down an offer that would quadruple the salaries they currently make. That means rookies would make about $300k (up from about $76k) and a max contract would be about $1 million (up from $250k). Players want a 50% revenue share like the NBA, the problem is the WNBA only owns 42% of the league. The NBA and private investors account for the rest as the price the league had to pay to stay afloat as the NBA has subsidized the WNBA for decades and even with that private investors had to step in with a cash infusion.

A 4x pay raise seems more than reasonable to me for a league that has never turned a profit. It falls in line with the new media rights deal that is going to $260m, up from $60m.

We all know who is responsible for that media rights increase and the league is one more season or career ending injury from going under. I would assume there would be an "opt out" clause for the new media deal after a year or 2 and even with her current injury you can see the ratings slide the longer she has been out (if you can even find the ratings now, seems like they are intentionally hard to find these days).

If Sophie Cunningham is out for the season, I don't expect CC to come back either this year.

WNBA losing its skill cow then eye kandy the same fiscal year. Absolute brutality.

Only hope now is mommy Brink somehow develops into an actual basketball player.

I've never seen such a league wide wave of injuries that the WNBA has had this year in any sport. It's been a combination of dirty reckless play, terrible officiating and just plain bad luck.

Virtually every single major player has been out with injury this year and a large number are still out.

Players currently out: CC, Angel Reese, Nepheesa Collier, Breanna Stewart
Players who have missed multiple games: Paige Bueckers, Alyssa Thomas, A'ja Wilson

Those are just the "stars" I can think of, the list of other players is long. The Fever have been hit the hardest and will be lucky to make the playoffs now. Sure, they won last night, but they had to come back from 21 down and win in OT against the worst team in the league. This was after losing 4 of 5 of the previous games.

Risk of sports-related injury due to female gender is also a contributing factor.

It seems that women athletes are especially prone to ACL tears. Not sure if it's physiology or what, but seems more common for women than men.
