True! I was talking about the recent post where someone mentioned targeting all those players that weren’t Brady, just because they were from the same year? Or set, idk. Then I said why get all those random players instead of just brady? Which I thought was fair enough

Do you have a concept of anything else in this hobby besides Brady rookies? Set collecting has been around for 150 years. The idea that someone would want a complete set of the same set that contains their favorite rookie card is about the easiest leap in logic you can make.

From my perspective it just seems like you can get dragged into needless arguments. I can tell you're not just a troll like a few other people here, but you just gotta realize:

This thread is a victory lap for all us Brady fans and collectors. It doesn't matter if you're collecting high end, low end, obscure rookies or inserts, or just enjoyed watching Brady play all these guys. We've all won!

So let's all be a non-toxic fanbase that enjoys whatever it is we collect and not be insecure enough to have to punch down at guys who we think might be threats the way MJ fans do.

And to your question earlier on consolidating to a Contenders: I've found that doing such a thing in collecting is very rewarding. It's very nice to own an end game card. My only warning is that in doing so, you'll have to maintain a level of patience. Once you've done this, you're kind of out of other ammo, and seeing the latest bright and shiny thing can be tempting.

But in the long run, I think it's worth it if that's what you want.

You missed the point completely lol just trying to stick to what this thread is supposed to be for. Not other players/sets, or prizm etc

I get it happens a little bit here and there but lately it’s been everything but brady rookies

You’d probably have to go back over a year before the last 5 times someone said they’re wanting a card and the auction ends this day/time/asking what a fair price would be/if anyone else here has it etc

I can’t even imagine what it was like for you guys that bought pre covid and sold for a ridiculous amount. You guys already won! If sold/made a ton

I agree with the previous comment about consolidating for a contenders. It is very rewarding. It just takes patience, self control and focus to the extreme to consolidate and acquire a card you felt was unobtainable.

I have previously gone over a year without buying cards when saving for a major cardboard purchase. it takes lots of focus and self control, but is soooooo worth it!!!

Have you completed the base set?! Last I remember you were waiting on the dominion or some card like that which seemed really funny for it to be one of your last ones. As far as how you didn’t already have it compared to all the best base ones lol

Is it true that the Donruss Elite /2000 actually has 1500 made? And the die cut /2000 has 500 made? They’re just both /2000 but there’s not 2000 of either, just not serial numbered /1500 and /500

still waiting on that last card. i think i may have mentioned before that now that i am at the end, i kind of hate to actually finish. weird, huh?

I will finish it up this fall though. only missing the base metal. i already have the emerald.

I dont anticipate ever being finished with brady though. i thinnk i may just pivot to rookie parallels and autos as well as other early cards 2001-2005 or so.

That’s insane. I mean if you reallllllly want to continue, especially if you made some nice profit... There are lots of options! Some you can think of that I didn’t I bet

I know you’re not a huge fan on inserts/parallels but another upgrade possibility! Would “ruin” the base set but the cards would be better. Selling a black Diamond, buying black Diamond gold. Selling base pacific, buying one of the parallels, selling the blue upper deck and getting the upper deck encore, etc!

Some are hard to find so that would be a whole new chase

i could definitely see myself going after some of the parallels in the future. I already have a few, and there are many more i like as well. i really like the ultimate victory parallel.

Regular Bowman in a PSA 10 is close to $9k! Off of a few recent sales. Some over $8k, some close or just over $9k!

Wonder where the chrome will end up!

I remember mid to late 2020 a chrome PSA 10 was definitely under $10k, well into covid. The huge Brady boom wasn’t until after #7/early 2021

yes, at the height of covid, BC PSA 10 was a $20k card!!

we are not back there, yet, but we are rolling back up that hill.

and,to me, it does seem organic as opposed to covid times. no more free covid cash and people are back to work/normal so there is no more oodles of free time at hand for everyone to look for something to do online.

whether or not it is a bubble, i dont know. it seems organic to me though, especially as Brady is no longer active and getting weekly bumps because of good play. similar to when jordan cards started increasing years after he retired.

Isn’t it crazy how much a typical Jordan auto is compared to Brady?

Brady is clearly the best, where basketball has a MUCH more debate, you’d think Brady and Jordan auto prices would be the other way around

I dont know that to be true? i know that brady usually does 1 private signing/year and the prices are obscene. if memory serves flats are the cheapest at around $1900 and then it goes up to $3k+. he only will sign rookies for fanatics i believe.

Granted not a big a brand as Air Jordan, but still a “brand” with a logo, multiple lines & ensure you that a cease & desist letter would arrive the minute you used Brady, the logo or its likeness. Will never be as big as Jordan, but Brady does have complete control of his, unlike Michael does of the Jordan brand.
