Forgot to post this last week when it came in.

I bought the signed MOM from Forbidden Comics in the UK when they had them the first go around.

Gave it to @IndySportsCards to send in for slabbing because I really just wanted to protect the auto and the book came back a 9.8.

Any idea why it was qualified? That green flip is disaster for future resale...but I agree it looks good. I have seen CGC books with, for example: "Stan Lee written on cover" and still a blue flip...so maybe another reason for the green?

Just FYI, if you send to CBCS they will verify signatures on comics.

What does a blue or green "flip" mean? Also, what does "qualified" imply.

Thanks, I have no knowledge on grading stuff.

Sorry dude, I will keep an eye out for you and PM you -- especially since you filled that huge PSA/DNA blue flip group break for me back in the day!

I think it's the color of the label which indicates what service was applied to the encapsulated item -- that is what the flip describes. And it varies for comics vs autographs vs cards etc.

Blue flip (or universal) for comics is the grade only, purple is ... actually why am I typing this out? Read this. When you get to green, that is the qualified color:

Quote:
A Qualified label is used by CGC for collectibles that have a significant defect that needs specific description, or to note an unauthenticated signature (one which was not witnessed by CGC). For example, a comic book with a missing coupon that otherwise grades 6.0 will receive a Qualified grade, avoiding a considerably lower grade. CGC would give this book a Qualified grade of 6.0 and a Label Text notation “COUPON MISSING FROM PAGE 10, DOES NOT AFFECT STORY.” Or, if the book is signed on the cover it may be noted as “NAME WRITTEN ON COVER IN MARKER.”
So this wasn't grading for auto authentication so they treated it like it's signed which, duh, of course it is. So the label is a different color than blue so you don't sell this and someone is unsure if the sig is part of the printing or live ink. Hope this helps.

Here you go. I didn't know myself either so was curious and looked it up. Basically green labels are if there is a defect that needs describing or an autograph not witnessed by CGC.

Nice! Sent mine to CBCS. Hate those green labels from CGC. Wish they would offer a verified signature label option.

I posted in here a few weeks ago Andy Serkis was doing a charity auction and was selling autographed postcards for $10ish. Got this today. This is actually my first Serkis auto, so super excited! Little beat up from crossing the pond, was in a PWE, but not too bad.

Oooh you got a nice one, mine was sharp for my personalization but lots of streak in his autograph. Still amazing deal at 10 quid:

Mine shipped from Wisconsin, FYI, not across the pond.

Thanks Eldavojohn and Zeldafanatic15. I did think it was interesting when it stated "Name written on cover in marker".

I didn't know that unwitnessed sigs got green labels. Good to know.

Apparently if it was signed on the inside, it can still be a blue flip...which makes zero sense. It should be consistent.

So that would mean the B&N exclusive signed M.O.M on the first page could (in theory) get a blue label.

No; yellow labels only given to books that CGC has physically seen signed- they do not let these leave or then they get a green label. There’s been 1 exception to the rule (a recent spawn book)

Brian Cox at B&N for Succession fans (I'm getting it for his role in Rushmore). According to ebay it's a decent price.

Odenkirk is back available for folks who missed the 10,000 other opportunities.

Also for lit snobs, a new Ian McEwan pre-order (note you can pick his auto up for cheaper on ebay though).

$20 says Brian Gray caught wind and snatched them all up. Look for Obama and Springsteen signatures in lots of 2022 Leaf offerings.

At one point, I think I even saw $275 (not entirely sure).

Another big thank you to eldavojohn and Viking6 for sharing the deal.
