Bieber just had a Cy Young year.

Still only 70ish bucks for a PSA 10 of his Update RC.

Yeah, I know. He's the one, why I put the 's' on years. If he does it again though, there's room to grow.

He won't be pitching against all Central teams this year though.

Nope. Bohm could be a fantastic player, but he's a completely different type of player that's not something that'll quite make him have a super-high hobby ceiling. Nolan Arenado-lite is a decent way to describe his ceiling.

Also, Adell's best case scenario is Matt Kemp with less speed. Carlson's is something like Andrew McCutchen. So again, not guys that did/do VERY well in the hobby.

I like these comparisons. It will be interesting to see if Pache can gain some power. But he’s on a pretty crowded team in terms of stars.

I am having a TON of luck with hangers.

9 total (My Target limits 3 per visit, and I'm not into flipping.)

Best hits:

Alec Bohm Pink #/50 (sold on the Bay)
Alec Bohm Auto '70 Years' (Just pulled today!)
2 Dylan Carlson '52's (1 chrome, 1 paper)
Dylan Carlson base (I PC him.)
Mike Clevinger skateboard SP
Casey Mize '52 Chrome
Frank Thomas die-cut
1 red parallel
several silver foils
a couple red & green parallels

I’ve opened literal cases of just about everything (all but fat packs) and I agree hangers are the way to go- I actually pulled a SSP and a 1/1 in the same hanger

I would say no chance...especially since the only position player RC in this class that is younger than those three is Luis Garcia.

Looking at my price index as of Feb 1 (certainly not all inclusive, certainly not up to date), here are the players who had their first full season at 22 or later and where they rank among the 68 I track;

5. Mookie Betts (22)-Before anybody tells you nobody has this type of ceiling, remember Mookie didn't have this kind of ceiling until his monster age 23 season. I know this for a fact because it was that discussion that lead me to buy a 1st Chrome Auto of his right before said monster age 23 season.

13. Aaron Judge (25)-As a rookie I would have placed him about 5th or 6th against this year's list....similar to where I had him in 2017. I'm guessing he peaked at #2 or #3 (Trout, Harper) in the summer of 2017.

21. Peter Alonso (24)-Had a ton of helium coming in to his rookie season and plays for the Mets. He's going nowhere in the long run, but it goes to show how high this type of player can get.

22. Joe Adell-Keep in mind is 1st Chrome Auto is SP'd, boosting its price by 50%(ish). Otherwise he's be down there with Bohm.

24. Kris Bryant (23)-He's obviously had much higher standing than he does now, but he was also a much much much better prospect than anybody in the 2021 class.

31. Alec Bohm-This is coming off a ROY too. He's got some upside.

33. Kyle Lewis-Similar MLB performance to Bohm but a year older, in a worse market, and not nearly as highly rated as a prospect. I'm surprised he's this close to Bohm. I'm also surprised I never noticed the similarity between the two rankings in the past.

36. Ke'Bryan Hayes
37. Alex Bregman (23)
47. Nick Madrigal
48. Joey Bart
49. Luis Garcia
51. Joey Gallo (23)
56. Victor Robles (22)

Has anyone ripped any fat packs? I just picked some up from Target (currently available in 4-packs for $23.99, so I got a max 3, or 12 totals fat packs) and they seem like a good value in terms of cards per dollar, but I have no idea what the odds are vs say, the hangers. Curious to hear what folks' luck has been with fat packs. I'll be glad to rip some stuff for $70 either way and hopefully round out my S1 needs

My three best pulls have all been from fat packs this year.

I got 12 from that Target sale last time, and also 8-10 fat packs from an online retailer and out of those I pulled a Robert SP and Soto SP, (both of those were from the Target batch), Rainbow foils of Ohtani,Cole, and Meadows and a Mize 1952 Chrome. Good selection of RC's too, some packs had 8-12 of them. No earth shattering inserts but some pretty nice ones.

The old “RP”, because “Reprint” is just too many characters to type out.
This dirtbag listed it as an original, so whoever bought it can INAD it anyway.

Maybe a dumb question. But can’t he argue that it is an original? Since it’s a unique card that showcases a rare card with a unique border to 2021 series 1?

For the record, I agree this seems like a pretty shady listing.

He can try!
Would be interesting to check his feedback in a few weeks. See if anything is left for that item.

The seller clearly identified that it was from 2021 Topps, and also included a clear picture of the card that shows the "Through the Years" border. The fact that 14 people bid on this thinking it was a patch is pretty disturbing though; there are a lot of people who need to get more familiar with the product. Let the buyer beware. Having said that, I agree that he was trying to take advantage of ignorance by starting the bidding at $10. I probably would have stated "From the Through the Years Insert Set" or something similar and started the bidding at a buck.

The “RP” is a clear sign that they both knew what the card is, and were trying to hide it.

Mega boxes are loaded. Just got one in from Target. Not the names I was looking for, but still way more hits than my hobby box. Should have maxed out at 3:

Platinum /70
Gold /2021
70 Years of Baseball Auto
70th Die Cut
2x Rainbow Foils
Most all key RC's
