It seems like every star power hitter does the home run derby at least once. Ohtani is just continuing a tradition -- giving the fans a show.

Hah -- there's one big star power hitter that hasn't participated in the HRD:

"It's probably something I will maybe eventually do. Every year. Every year they [MLB] ask me. Maybe one year I'll say to myself, 'Hey, let's do it.' I'm obviously a big fan of watching it. It's just what it is. I enjoyed watching it as a kid, thought it was cool. I just never really wanted to do it."

Trout explained that he enjoys the All-Star break for spending time with his family, and is wary of the workload of the derby.

"I like going there to spend time with my family and watch other guys hit," Trout said. "I enjoy going to the ballpark, watching it and being able to spend time with my family. It's a long, long night for a lot of swings. I enjoy that night off."

Thank you. I did not want to sell it as a lot. I wanted to phase out the sales over few months to avoid effect of injury or poor performance on sales. The collector who bought my two superfractors for ~500K was only looking for 1/1's and nothing else. Not sure if I would have gotten such returns if I had sold them as a lot. I would have invested ~30K total in his cards in 2018-19 and am glad I held on to all of them until May of this year. I am planning to hold on to the following cards for long term just in case his prices appreciate more in the future

Seems like you were fortunate with timing, but this is why selling with some consignors makes me nervous. Very little control over timing and places like PWCC would not stop the sale of a card once you send it.

You clearly had a great match with the buyer of the supers. I can squint to understand the price on the TC super, but the transcendent was honestly shocking due to its niche pedigree. Regardless, you crushed it and I'm happy for you.

My collection is much more spread out than yours so I'll need to take a different approach. Would be tough to sell 75% of an entire pop (in many cases) in a short time while optimizing return. I didnt buy Ohtani for investment, but I learned a lot here.

I think haters is probably a bit strong. I think most people were - justifiably imo- concerned with his injuries plus that one performance on the mound last year. Given his age I was happy to call him a hobby bust at the end of last year.

Happy to be wrong. I suspect a lot of people are.
