Default Grabbed my 1st (& probably last) Eminence PC card

I had some funds from selling a few cards and this was available on auction. I put in what I though was my value on the card set it and forget it style. I ended up winning. Always glad to grab a nice looking card of this guy and having an on-card auto from such a high end product is cool. I am shocked at how thick these are. What is the reasoning behind that? It's the same quality image they would put on a 55 stock card. This just has way more paper between those two images. I also agree with everyone else that the pens used for this release are crap.

They had to do something to justify the insane price of those cards. I guess it was some dudes brilliant idea to add .002 cents worth of extra paper to them.. that outta do it right?

All jokes aside, nice Larry Legend pickup!

Love the card. Hate the case.

In all seriousness-

1. No idea why panini made the base set so thick. These cards are crazy thick. It obviously doesn't bug me (I'm doing now the set) but it does some people.

2. If you like thinner pens, then I can see you not liking the ink. But I for one think that autograph is bold and beautiful - especially eith the black. Grant hill and Dominique? Not so much. This one is great though.

3. I believe this is the second bird I've seen out of the case. 8 total sets still encased. Ugh. Why leaf, why?

4. Last - would this set have been worth more without the autos? Serious question. Base set /10. Think about that. I think it truly may have been worth more money without autos. That's pretty bonkers.

It is like Beat headphones. The metal inside only gives the headphones more weight because users feels "high-end", not cheap plastic.

Stephen's expecting?!?!

Congrats on the beautiful pickup man. When I got my first one in hand, I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be, but it grows on you quick. Great addition to the PC!

I really love the look of that card. Beautiful. One of the nicest Bird cards I've ever seen.

The design looks great however as a Celtics collector myself the ink on these has always pushed me away. The only subset of Eminence that I care for is Gilded Graphs, those look pretty nice. Probably because the ink is normal and bold.

Anybody else think these would be worth more not autographed?

Yes J and Tim. 2 more months of life as I know it....

Interesting concept about these being non-autographed. I could truly seem them having exploded if that were the case. Now they are just another auto set in a high end product that had a ton of autos.

As for the pen I agree the card looks great and the auto is solid. However compared to my other bird autos this one is no where near as fine or detailed. He has a very nice flowing signature that this set does not accurately capture.

Even with my initial thoughts I do have another bid out on another PC player from the set. It would be a beautiful set to chase for sure. Good luck to those going after it.

First off, congrats! Nothing better than being a dad. Nothing.

Second, birds auto looks great in thin pen. I agree. The more precise the auto, the better the thin pen looks. Birds is one, unlike some of the set that I mentioned before, that looks good even though it's very detailed.

And on your last point - if I tell you that the most expensive product ever is going to have a 50 card base set each numbered to 10, and you're going to try and value them, you're probably going to take the values of the previous rarest/most expensive set ever and extrapolate the price from there. But this set is all over the place price wise. Kobe's eminence base /10 sells for about half what his first year flawless /20 sells for and the flawless isn't autographed but has a diamond.

It's not as much any more I'm sure, but once upon a time the flawless bird 2012 sold for $350.

Or how about this one. Only two Wiggins gala rookies /8 have sold- non autod, but his rarest true rookie. They sold for $3k and $4k. Only two public sales to date of the eminence Wiggins and they both sold for $1500!!! Less than half the non autod gala that everyone supposedly hates.

It's just such a weird market. I have felt that these were undervalued. That's a big reason I'm doing the set. But understanding why is another story. So, yeah, I personally do agree that they would actually be worth more if they weren't autod. Which, a las, is the funniest part of all, because when flawless first came out, so many people said " I hate the gimmicky diamond. Just give me an autograph".
