Default Giveaway-One free submission in my 10 day BGS group sub!

This will run until the sub hits 100 cards. All you have to do to enter is name your favorite player, and tell a story about why. I will run a random at the end, and the winner will be able to submit any card they wish for free. (All you have to do is pay for any insurance you want)
If this submission doesn't reach 100 cards, I will continue the thread until one does.

My favorite player would be Joe Mauer.

As a little kid I wanted to be just like Joe. I played catcher just so like him. I tried to hit lefthanded, that didn't turn out to well! He's the first player I ever got an autograph from. He was my sports idol growing up.

Thanks for doing something like this!

My favorite player is:
Daniel Nava

I love the Red Sox (I have for as long as I remember) and read his story of making it to the bigs.... and liked his determination and grit - and never give up attitude.

Then his first at bat, first pitch - grand slam - sealed it for me.

To me, he is what life is about - have a dream - never give up and succeed!!!

Nice pick. Remember watching Nava hit that grand slam and going crazy. As a Red Sox fan, one of my favorite recent moments for sure.

My favorite player is Mickey Mantle.

I began to collect cards in 1986 as a 9 yr old. I had an idea of Mickey Mantle, but really fell in love with him because he was the favorite player of my neighbor Walter, an elderly gentleman that my dad used to help mow his lawn. He was so nice to me that he became my grandfather of sorts. I would eat over his house and play gin rummy with him and his wife.

Well, one day, he showed me his son's card collection. It was in a nice shoebox. I opened it and saw a set of 1956 Topps! Yes, and a minty fresh Mickey Mantle. He wanted me to put them in a binder for him; I was hooked. (And I've been hooked on baseball cards ever since!).

Walter would take me to baseball card shows every other week. He would pitch to me in the backyard. He threw me so much BP that I became a switch hitter!

When I think of Mickey Mantle, I think of my neighbor Walter. Love him and miss him.

My favorite player is Corey Seager because he has single handedly reignited my interest in the sports card collecting hobby!

I was so hyped after watching his three home run game earlier this season that I headed over to eBay to find some kind of memorabilia to set on my desk at work. I got to looking into cards.. never realized there were relic cards or autos... then discovered the Bowman Chrome Rookies...It was all downhill from there...

My favorite player is sort of a toss-up but I will say Madison Bumgarner. I've always been a big Giants fan and I remember when they called up Madison. Instantly became my favorite player. I liked his funky low 3/4 delivery and that he is lefty (I am left handed as well). Then when he threw 8 shutout frames in the 2010 WS I knew he was something special. Had no idea he would become the co leader of a dynasty (along with Buster). The 2014 playoffs were really fun to watch as well.

My MadBum 2007 Draft X-Fractor is one card I wish I had hung onto.
Nice choice

Right now, Kyle Seager. He's just a consistent hitter and makes great plays at 3rd base. Thanks

Ken Griffey Jr. is my guy. I grew up in the 90's. The first time I saw him hit a HR on tv, I was awe struck. Baseball became my life! Ive stuck with him ever since. I don't collect anything else but him. He has over15,000 different cards to collect. I'm only at 3,000 20 years later. I'll never stop collecting him!

Thanks for the contest. My favorite player growing up was Davey Lopes, i watched him steal bases and play second base. It was my position as a young 8 year old playing in Westminster California. Then for my 9th birthday low and behold I received a personally signed post card signed by my favorite player wishing me a happy birthday. That is why he is my favorite.

Thank you for the contest

My favorite player is Derek Jeter. I grew up idolizing him. I loved his play on the field as a leader. I played SS in high school and still play there now in softball because of him.

Also he was one of my dad's favorite players

Probably all time is Mike Schmidt.

Growing up in Philly in the 80's he was pretty much God. So smooth and just played to win. Wasn't much better as a kid then hearing Harry Kalas say "it's outta here, home run, Michael Jack Schmidt"

Thanks for the contest

Nick Markakis

No idea why, just respected his game. Then my first ball I got at a game came from him, so that was some solid validation.

My favourite player is Joe Carter. I was always a die hard Jays fan from 1986 and watched all the ups and down until Alomar and Carter joined the team. I really liked Joe from day one and he ended by the hero in both of our World Series victories.

Favorite Player: Manny Machado

It was a long tenured suffering being an O's fan, and his arrival has coincided with them having the best record in the league since then. He's a good guy as well, very good to my son.

Thanks for the contest!

My favorite player is Dirk Nowitzki. In my opinion he has been one of the most humble and loyal players. That fade away is just money.

Thanks for the contest.

Slammin Sammy. I turned 11 years old the summer of 98 when he and Big Mac put on the greatest show we've ever seen. He got me into baseball, and I've been paying attention ever since.
