Default The Panini America Quality Control Gallery: 2016 Donruss Signature Series Football

The Panini America Quality Control Gallery: 2016 Donruss Signature Series Football
Nov 28th 2016, 22:07, by Tracy Hackler

With nothing more than just a passing glance at top-line specifics, there’s a lot to like about Panini America’s upcoming 2016 Donruss Signature Series Football, like four-card boxes that deliver nothing but autographs. But take a deeper dive into the nuts and bolts of the product and you start to gain a much deeper appreciation for everything the product will offer when it arrives in hobby shops across North America on Friday.
Each four-card box of 2016 Donruss Signature Series Football will deliver four autographs, including one parallel autograph numbered to 50 or less. Each eight-box inner case (two per master case) will yield one multi-autograph card and one patch autograph card. Of course, all the autographs in the world won’t mean much without a strong checklist — and that’s where 2016 Donruss Signature Series Football really shines.

For longtime collectors, the highly anticipated Elusive Ink insert will likely resonate most for it includes signatures from players with very few — if any — certified autographs. Who’s on the checklist? Glad you asked. In the table below, we offer the Elusive Ink checklist as well as a quick rundown of the key rookies, veterans and legends who will have live autographs in the product:
Elusive Ink Live Rookies/Vets/Legends John Kuhn Dak Prescott Cole Beasley Ezekiel Elliott Dan Bailey Carson Wentz Trevor Siemian Jared Goff Mason Crosby Derrick Henry Rob Ninkovich Paxton Lynch Muhammad Wilkerson Corey Coleman Nick Mangold Devontae Booker Geno Atkins Sterling Shepard Brandon McManus Laquan Treadwell Philly Brown Joey Bosa Mike Tolbert Will Fuller Ryan Kalil Aaron Rodgers Michael Bennett Andrew Luck Sebastian Janikowski Barry Sanders Delvin Breaux Ben Roethlisberger Brett Keisel Brett Favre Ed Reed Dan Marino Jeff Saturday Deion Sanders Mike Vrabel J.J. Watt Tedy Bruschi Jerry Rice Ernest Givins Joe Namath Neil Smith Ray Lewis Christian Okoye Emmitt Smith Chris Doleman Terry Bradshaw Morten Andersen
Mark Schlereth
Steve Atwater
Steve Tasker
Dick LeBeau
Russ Grimm
Vance Johnson
Darren Woodson
Chris Spielman
Jim Zorn
Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila

In the must-see Quality Control Gallery that follows, we offer a revealing look at many of the highlights coming later this week in 2016 Donruss Signature Series Football. Enjoy the sneak peek and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for continued coverage.

I see a few interesting autographs in his set. Some new names or at least not so common ones. I may just have to be on the lookout for some of those.

This is a good concept honestly, I like the foil ones to 10 as well. Probably will be an awful break though.

Sticker dump.

2 of the autographs are of 2nd year Vikings... One of which was cut and the other is a 3rd string QB. They shouldn't even count as a hit.

Still going nuts thinking about having my first Wilkerson and Mangold Autos. I'm fired up.

I open EVERYTHING that comes out. EVERYTHING.

You couldn't pay me to try this stuff last year.

Thinking about doing the Elusive Ink set. I like the checklist, esp Jeff Saturday and Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila. Steve Atwater is awesome too.

The more important question - why do consumers by this stuff? How is there a profitable and sustainable market for this type of product that Panini has a dozen of so far this season? Absolutely baffling why anyone would spend money on this generic sticker garbage. Instantly forgettable as usual.

Just look at the other thread, people like that there are players that haven't had an autograph that are getting one.

As for the design, the first thing I though of when I looked at it was that it was heavily inspired by Five Star--and we all know how much that is loved.

The obscure and elusive auto's are honestly the only things that appeal to me in this set. I've always been a fan and "collector" of the obscure auto's and to see auto's of guys like Saturday, KGB, Morten Andersen, Vrabel, Kuhn, Wilkerson, Brandon McManus, etc, makes me like the set. As mentioned before, I'll probably go after the set just because of the elusiveness of some of these guy's auto's..

Just wish Stephen Gostkowski had an auto in this subset

I will be buying singles of these but I will not be busting wax

You are getting closer Panini. All we need now are some Hanford Dixon, Frank Minnifield, Patrick Surtain, Sam Madison and Larry Izzo autos.

Got it. So its all about the rarity of some of the signers. Thats fair. None of the players shown I personally collect. But I can see that being the appeal of this particular release.

These dont remind me of Five Star in any way, but thats a subjective thing. I think this design is so basic and uninspired it looks virtually identical to dozens of other uninspired panini products over the last couple seasons.

Yeah, nothing like Five Star at all.

I am guessing he meant Topps Supreme...2011 had signatures very similar, with the sticker autos being placed on gold foil, etc...
