2017 Fleer Ultra Spider-Man

It looks like Upper Deck is doing a Fleer Ultra Spider-Man card set for 2017. The base set is supposed to be all new art.

THIS is the set a lot of us have been waiting for!

Love Spidey and the idea of a new art set, but guessing I will end up passing on another UDE release. Not really interested in spending a fortune a super premium release and absolutely no interest in digital cards. Would absolutely try to chase down some of the OA though, although I doubt I'll have much luck.

This must be the set that Greg Hildebrandt told me he turned down because of the time constraints. He said it was spider-Man.

I will probably sniff around this one, but it doesn't hold nearly the appeal that MM16 did for me.

As Spider-Fan said, not really interested in the ultra-super-maxi- premium route that UDE is taking with the license. Singles are still the way for those without unlimited budgets.

I haven't heard any feedback from other artists on the set, but if they can pull off the Plexi-Sketches, those are going to be awesome.

I'm very happy with how mine turned out.

That's dealer cost on the product... I hope people don't expect to pay those prices.

Yes that is about cost.....and I imagine the price will be somewhere in the $130+ through online dealers ect, if you preorder, and at the time of release who knows where it will land...

I was initially pumped on this, but i'm not sure how much I like this set for the presale price it is at. I feel like it could end up dropping in price a lot like Fleer Retro 2015 did. I have serious doubts that the plexi-glass sketches will have high quality ----->e.g. vibranium.

Love the idea of this set and new base art, but TERRIBLE choice of insert sets.

Metal blasters and Precious metal gems had nothing to do with the Fleer Ultra Spider-Man release from the 90s. Ex Century and Jambalaya are sports inserts. Why not bring back more of the '95 Fleer Ultra Spider-Man subsets like clear chrome and gold web? May as well call this 2017 Marvel Retro....

Did you see how much the Jambalaya inserts sold from previous Fleer Ultra sets? They were VERY well received.

They're popular, but I get what he's saying in that they don't make a whole lot of sense to include if you're specifically calling the set FLEER ULTRA. That's an established brand itself, no need to include other brands.

Agree. It only dilutes the supply too. We all know how prices go once we hit critical mass.

The lack of clear set info (even a week) before set releases lately have really been turning me off.

I was never a fan of the sports inserts being included in the Marvel Retro releases. I was looking forward to the Marvel inserts I remembered chasing as a kid, and was sorely disappointed with a lot of what was included.

All that said, they have been very popular and have brought a "sports" audience into the Marvel trading card franchise. Its been successful for Upperdeck, so I don't see it changing.

And I tend to believe this is the 2017 Marvel Fleer Retro set, based on the description of the set.

I missed the past two retro sets at launch and love the new art Jusko set so I think this set is a worthy gamble since it combines retro with new art. I've got 9 boxes preordered and oddly enough my gf is more excited to open them then me...and fleer ultra spiderman was my second favorite set as a kid! Should be loads of fun. Can't wait!

Looks like this will be one of the cards in the set...and boy is it pretty!

The original art used to make the card is too expensive for me, but I know there are some heavy hitters around here who may want this spiderman art in their collection.
