Default Lambeau Leap is a trademarked phrase?

Just found out today that the words Lambeau Leap were trademarked by former Packer Robert Brooks. Surprised that he was granted a trademark since Leroy Butler invented it and the Packers own Lambeau Field. Figure one of those two would have been given it or applied for it. Was also told that Brooks sent a cease and desist letter to Butler so he could no longer sign it on items he signed. Also when Brooks now signs something he adds Lambeau Leap with the R with a circle in it.

LOL! WTF?

I guess, if he can collect cash on it, more power to him. Just surprised, like you, that they let him have the TM.

He really needs to work on writing out "Lambeau Leap" as it looks like a 2nd grader is learning cursive.

I just find it bad taste that he sent Butler a cease and desist letter and won't let the inventor of the Lambeau Leap use it on signings. Not like there is much money to be made on it.

Leroy had more damn INT's than Brooks had TD's, he should get to use it.

Technically Butler "did" the first Lambeau Leap he actually didn't invent the phrase.
"One of the first possible mentions was by broadcaster Al Michaels, who mentioned during a Monday Night Football broadcast in 1996, "It's a new tradition in Green Bay, Robert Brooks leaping into the stands."
Brooks was smart enough to trademark the phrase.
