![]() The Trading Cards are back — and this time they are in packs. Long-time readers of The Buzz probably remember California-based illustrator Cuyler Smith whose Trading Cards bring the stars of the reel world (memorable sports movies) to real life using nods to memorable sports card designs from the past. He’s back with a new show — and a new wave of cardboard — arriving on Friday. ![]() There aren’t a lot of details on this one so far other than there are 40 new pieces to come — and The Big Lebowski‘s Jesus Quintana is one of them. (Three other images, which were released as teasers without direct notation as being part of the series can be seen in the gallery below and we’ll update it once all images are available.) While these card-size prints were sold as singles in top-loaders and as framed displays limited to just 80 copies per card last time, this time around they also come in five-card packs. They’ll still be signed and numbered inside those packs, too, according to the wrappers. We’ll update this post with more details once we have them, but the first glimpses at the work will come on Friday night at Gallery 1988, an art gallery in Los Angeles, that’s hosting an opening reception for a show displaying all of the works that runs into March. (Info on that can be seen in the gallery below.) Did you miss the first release? Roughly a dozen past Trading Cards’ Artist Proofs can be had on the artist’s website, which you can find here. Series 3 has just been released. The gallery show is ongoing, ending this weekend. The cards are artist's proofs of the original art and limited to 90 each. They are $15 each and signed by the artist on the reverse. There's also a framed set of each card, a pair of the cards, so you can display front and back at the same time, and I think from the same edition of 90, which would mean there are something less than 90 singles of each), and most of those are already sold out.
Here's my 6 singles, which I got went they first went live online, the morning after the first night of the gallery show. Jeff Bridges as Lebowski sold out at the show, but I got the rest I really wanted. A couple of these, Goodman from Lebowski and Cru Jones from the BMX classic "Rad" have since sold out, and more will follow, I'm sure. Only a few from earlier series remain available at issue price.

That one is sold out, as are the packs you might have been able to pull one from, unfortunately, so you'd pretty much have to check Ebay from time to time, to see if anyone is flipping theirs.
Here's my pack from Series 4. The Larry David was the pack exclusive here. ![]() And the entire Series 4 at a glance. ![]() Here's the series 5. The PeeWee Herman was found only in the sealed packs. The packs sold out onsite at the Gallery Show opening on Friday night, so none were available when the remaining singles went on sale online Saturday morning. Set size, Print run, pricing, method of release for Series 4 & 5 was the same as Series 2 in the original post and for Series 3 which I wrote about in Post #2.

Series 6 didn't get a single release with the Gallery Show and the accompanying sale of all the cards at once like the earlier series and there was no sealed pack with 4 random cards plus one exclusive card. Rather, it was released sporadically in chunks (usually multi-card sets for certain properties) over the last two years. It included 9 cards for "Ted Lasso", 6 cards for "Cobra Kai", 4 cards for "Squid Game", 5 cards for "Always Sunny", 4 cards for "Top Gun: Maverick" plus some pairs and a few one-offs for a total of 42 cards. It culminated just this past Black Friday with a single card of Buddy (Will Ferrell) from "Elf" that quickly sold out.
You can see the first Series 6 set here: https://www.cuylersmith.com/trading-cards/series-6 I say the "first" Series 6 set because another 40 card set being referred to as Series 6 was just released yesterday at the Gallery1988 website. There seems to be no gallery show, and because of that, the cards went on sale online on Friday instead of Saturday like usual. Some of the singles (and the pack with an exclusive "Napoleon Dynamite" card) have sold out, but plenty remain available. Here's a look at the full "second" Series 6 set, now available: ![]() The issue price has taken a small jump with single cards now at $18 (versus $15 previously), and a little more for the lenticular cards that occasionally appear as part of the regular set. The full set comprised of 7 series (1-5, 6a, 6b) now contains nearly 300 different cards.
