Default Why does Frank Mason get no NBA love??

Everytime I watched the dude play he is as calm and money as it gets. He's shooting 50%+ from 3 this year, averaging over 20 points, and the most important part... he is absolutely clutch. I think Bill Self is right, the NBA is missing something here.

He's a bit undersized, Not a great defender, He's a senior, and he'll be 23 before the draft. It doesn't help that this is a really deep draft for PGs. He's gonna get a summer league invite. And I can see him cracking a D league Roster to start the year. But he's going to have to really bust his tail to make the NBA.

I do like him though. Fun to watch.

i dont no about others but i think he is amazing and have him in my top 5 pgs this year. very athletic, can score, pass well and shoots a high % from deep. is a senior with 4 years of experience from a great system and great coach. would be a shame to me is he didnt get drafted. i think a team will draft him personally.

Might happen in the second round. but i'd put 5 or 6 PGs a head of him easily.

I'm a KU fan so it goes without saying I am rooting for him. He's should win the National Player of the Year especially when you factor in the numerous memorable clutch plays against UK, Duke, WVU and Baylor.

Bottom line is that if Isaiah Thomas can do what he does, then Frank Mason has a shot to follow in those footsteps. If Kay Felder and Tyler Ulis were worth drafting in the 2nd round, then Mason is even moreso. One big advantage he has over the typical undersized PG is he a dagger slinger from 3 (>50% this year, 42% for his college career). I wouldn't give him great odds but I think he'll get drafted and he has a shot.

Theres 5 PG's in the top 10 of most mock drafts right now. Fultz, Smith, Ball, Fox and Frank(foreign PG).

He may get drafted in the 2nd round but I've seen a lot of PG's that were better that couldn't make it in the league.

100% agree. I think he'll be busting his #@#@#@ as a summer league invite.

Who? It's not like there's a long list of college PGs out here putting up 20 PPG, 50% 3FG, 126 ORtg. Maybe you're referring to the likes of Kendall Marshall, Nolan Smith, Russ Smith and Shabazz Napier? None of those guys put up a season in college like Frank is right now.

The thing that really gives Frank a chance is his 3 pt stroke. Other undersized guys are usually entirely dependent on penetration and they can't handle the better perimeter D and rim protection. Frank can provide floor spacing, he's an elite shooter--one of the best in all of CBB.

So, basically the same reason Isaiah Thomas and Seth Curry didn't get any NBA attention.

Front offices need to stop hating on undersized guards.

Well most writers have him currently pegged as the favourite to win the Naismith award and I would have to agree. Just an FYI every player who has ever won the Naismith award went on to be picked in the 1st round of the draft, j.j. Redick (11th), jameer Nelson (20th), Tyler hansbrough (13th) and Doug McDermott (11th) are the only players not drafted in the top 10. Very strong odds that he will be a lottery pick

Some guys just don't translate. Ed Cota was a 4 year starter at UNC, went to the Final Four 3 times and has one of the highest career assist totals in NCAA history. You'd think a guy doing those things with other NBA talent around him would also be an NBA player. But he went undrafted and essentially played only European pro ball.

Correlation does not imply causation.
