Default Basketball card shop in CHI/IND/CLE?

Hi guys,

At the end of the month, I will attend 5 NBA games from Indianapolis to Cleveland, and was wondering if there are basketball card & memorabilia shops worth the trip?

I will visit the new shop Wax Poetic in Indianapolis for sure, any other recommendation (mostly in downtown as I won't rent a car).

Thank you for the help,
Vincent

Would seem crazy not to stop by BBCE if you are near there.

Unfortunately the BBCE is nowhere near Indianapolis. It's about 3 hours away. There is an Indy Card Exchange probably 15 minutes away from downtown Indy which is a great place with a great owner.

There is also K+L Sportscards located in Greenwood, IN which is also 15-20 minutes away in the other direction. They would require a cab or car, but definitely worth the time to check out.

Great, Indy Card Exchange seems cool too, that will me my second shop in Indianapolis with Wax Poetic.

BBCE could be on my way, as I will go to Chicago for a game against the Cavs on March 29th, I would like to make most of this opportunity to visit Gary (not really for the Michael Jackson family house, but more because the Big Dog was born there )

In the Chicago area, your best bet is probably Baseball Card King. They have a few locations that are all outside the city, about 30-45 min depending on traffic. They all generally have a solid selection, mostly newer stuff.

They have a nice inventory, but I will focus on old school stuff (90's and 00's), so Wax Poetic and BBCE seem to be the perfect spots for that.

I haven't been to K&L in probably 6 or 7 years but unless they've changed pretty substantially I wouldn't say they're worth checking out. Tiny shop that rarely had new singles and their old singles were all way overpriced, as were their pack/box prices.

Enjoy your trip, but don't plan on spending too much time in Gary. You may be one of the first people who voluntarily wants to go there.

Hi guys,

any recommendation in Chicago? I'll be there tonight for 2 days, and will come back there on 30th March for the game against the Cavs.

Cheers
Vincent

I've only been a couple times, so I'm no expert and I don't know relative locations well, but here's what I really liked out there.

Food:
Fatso's Last Stand (Chicago dogs)
Wildberry Cafe (great pancakes)
Au Cheval (might be far out, but great gourmet burgers)

Sights:
Buckingham Fountain (I doubt it's currently filled due to weather, but this is my favorite thing in Chicago)
People love Millennium Park and the Bean, although I'm not a huge fan myself.

It's not too much, but those were the standouts for me. Hope the weather isn't too bad for you. Have fun!
