Default Different PSA Holder-Has anyone ever seen these?

Received this today. I have never seen a PSA card in this type of holder. I'm curious as to what purpose it serves. I tried to get some different angles to show the depth. Also sat it next to a regular encapsulated card. I will probably get it re-slabbed to a regular holder. Anyone know anything about it?

They've been out for a while, mainly for the thick cards.

Not familiar with that particular set and card, but it may be too thick for the regular holder. Yes, I have seen some thicker cards placed in these types of holders.

Default Ditto....

As mentioned above, this is the REGULAR holder for this type of card. It can't be slabbed by PSA any other way. That is why for any thick cards, I go with BGS.
These PSA holders are like weapons!

Those are the grossest cases ever.

You need like a backpack to store that card.

I have a Dwight Howard auto relic that's in the same style of case. As someone else mentioned above due to the thickness of the card that's the way it's slabbed. I don't believe they will do anything for you if you try to reslab besides maybe put it in a new one of those monstrosities LMAO!!!

But in the last picture, the same card is in a regular holder. Same thickness. No difference at all.

I wanna say PSA started this in the mid 2000s, maybe 2004 or so and it continued until people just got fed up with how damn ugly these were.

After a few years, PSA must finally got the hint.

I had a few of these holders. sent them back in to PSA & paid the fee to re-slab in a regular holder. took about 3 weeks.

they didn't have the ability to make the smaller cases for thick cards until a few years ago.. so all thick cards before then have that ugly case

Damn I didn't even notice the picture the first time where it's in a newer holder. How much is the re slabbing fee?

They are two separate cards (one is an embossed logo version, but still identical in thickness). I think a re-slab would be $5.
Thanks all for the replies.

I liked those style. Now they don't use them. They were nice and safe and don't see them much anymore.

That case is the dumbest looking thing I've seen from a grading company.

It was $32 for 2 cards. Half of that was the shipping. They have a breakdown of cost for re-slabbing on their website.
