Default Wave of best offers accepted --> non paying bidders

Is anyone else having this problem?

I don't even do much volume on ebay, but this is ridiculous. People are making offers, I'm accepting, then absolutely zero response and non-paying bidders cases opened and closed without resolution. Had about 4 of these in the past 3 weeks. All have fairly lengthy ebay history and 100% feedback.

Is this a new millennial version of the knock-out game that I'm unaware of?

I'm the opposite I'm getting a huge run of putting in best offers and then no response. I mean if a seller doesn't like the offer just counter or decline?

Ah. That's crazy. I usually counter within a half day at the most. Ebay is becoming extremely more frustrating to deal with.

I now put in best offers and in the note section state that my offer is only good for 6 to 12 hrs at which time I just retract it. Ive had 2 people contact me after the retraction to ask me if I still want it.

Im not waiting the full 48 hrs because most sellers sit on offers to see if someone sends in a higher offer within 48 hrs.

I've had a couple instances of this recently. Sometimes they just take the full amount of time to pay. I'll never understand this. They are the ones who want the card so just pay for it.

I wish eBay would have harsher punishments for not paying. Super annoying.

Probably creating comps. EBay is the wild Wild West marketplace these days.

Is that wrong? I get the frustration of not getting a response or counter, but waiting to see if someone offers more doesn't seem bad at all.

Just decline the offer if you dont want to accept it. Dont sit on it. Sitting on it is the poorest form of negotiating.

When I see a best offer and offers pending, I dont bother offering. It just tells me the seller is waiting to see if they can get a better offer before the other one expires. If I seller has the right to sit on my offer, I have the right to retract it as well.

That's what I pondered at first, but it doesn't really apply in this case because all the offers accepted were just slightly below average market price (I just wanted to move them).

It's like these people are just blindly throwing out offers just to cause trouble.

Are the cards you had for sale the same as others listed. Sometimes ppl hit BINs to get rid of your auctions so theirs are the only ones available.

Graded, yes. But these are pretty low demand items and players, so it makes no sense. If they were hot ticket items, I would never have accepted their offers.

Most if not all the purchasers had fairly lengthy ebay histories, but very limited amount of activity in the past month, for what it's worth.

I'm seeing the same thing...3 or 4 of them this past month. In most of the incidents I accepted their first offer cus it was reasonable. Not sure if this is triggering them to think they over offered so they just don't pay up. I can't wrap my head around any logical explanation.

At least I'm not the only one...thought perhaps I'd ticked someone off in a past life.

This is just ridiculous. Accepted another bulk offer order on 3 items yesterday and fearing the same thing...again.

Fun times we're living in.

It is, because it's tying the buyer's money up. Especially annoying during ebay bucks promotions. Last time that happened I put in a good offer, seller declined, I quickly put in a very good offer [higher than I should've] and seller sat on it for almost 48 hours, the 10% ebay bucks promo ran out, I forgot to retract my bid as I bid on other things to get the promo, and then he accepted. I still paid, of course, but I wasn't too happy about it. [ I do admit I should've just retracted, but still]

We have had a rash of them across the board from sports cards to non-sports items.

In fact we had someone win multiple high end cards from us and agreed to pay for half of their order, but asked to cancel the rest. We just shook our head.

I had someone at the end of February send in a good offer on a high-end item but said they couldn't pay 'in full' until March 10th, I sent a message asking 'are you sure' and never got a reply so I didn't accept.

That's grand.

So what's next on the Ebay 'buyer advantage' platter on their next slate of rule revisions?

Those are the same jackasses that then message you demanding to send the card out ASAP, lol I agree with ninja, eBay is getting ridiculous.

I've seen it on both sides. I think buyers are putting in offers on many cards hoping one will get accepted and then cancelling the rest as they don't actually have funds to purchase everything they're offering on.

On the flip side. I've had more and more sellers sitting on offers until the last hour or so of the offer hoping for something better. I've ended up cancelling a few offers that just sit. I usually message the seller first in case it's just a case of being too busy or not noticing.

I'd like if eBay allowed buyers to put timed limits on offers. Something along the lines of 6hrs, 12hrs, 24hrs, 48hrs or Open - this would help with the problem a bit i think.

I think it's kids hitting several lower end cards but only having the money for 1-2

eBay has become ridiculous. It's seems like the ratio of good buyers vs numbnuts is 20-1.

Best offers getting bypassed for: what's the lowest you will take, do you trade, what are you looking to get bla bla bla then you tell them you're just fielding offers for now and you never hear back from them. People are just fishing to price out their own cards, hitting false BINs to get sales prices recorded when searching past sales, shilling up auctions, and the list goes on and on. And thats not even including all the scammers.

Just have to weed out all the morons for the serious buyer

This is half the reason I now send my cards to Probstein to sell

The combined fees (Paypal & Ebay) are cheaper than I would if I listed it myself and I avoid all the non paying bidder headaches, emails, and taking multiple pics of the item, disagreements about grading, etc........Its just not worth it to me

And his auctions get very good prices

The funds minus his fees are deposited into your Paypal account only 1 week after the auction ends

Its a great service
