Default Plate OR /5 of your PC player?

Which would your prefer, if you can only buy one? An /5 of a product like Select or Prizm, or plate from something like bowman chrome?

Edit: RC if that matters

Edit 2: seems to be a landslide. Got the /5

That's what I was thinking, but why is it not close in your opinion?

Aesthetics. In most cases, plates are unattractive. There are some situations where I would take a plate over a /5, but not many.

I hear ya. Just as someone who would like to own as many of this players rookie cards as possible, it just seems that I might see another /5 listed over the particular plate again.

I definitely understand that rationale. If you're a hardcore collector of one player and you're into Plates it would make sense to grab the plate and hope another /5 shows up.

the /5 easy. Plates appeal to some collectors but the /5 also has visual appeal

Arguably, a plate is a /4.

This is the way I look at it.. certain products have ruined plates for me. They used to be special and hard to get but now you can buy a box and know you're gonna get a plate, so if it's not an auto plate,I'm personally not interested. I know people that try to get every plate of their pc guy tho so it's just my opinion but yes, I'd get a /10 of my pc guy before a printing plate. Plates just lost their rarity to me. Like was just said, Plates are basically /4.

The only time I desire a plate is if chasing a rainbow, or if its auto'd of a nice player. Just a plate, heck no.

I think they are exciting to pull for the 1/1 feeling, but thats about it.

I say both ... Yes I know you said you can only get one ... But sell some /50's or /199's to get em both ... You can always get another high print run card .... Only time I sell PC is for rarer PC

I would pick up a plate of my PC guy back when I was super collecting only if it was cheap (sub $20). They just aren't aesthetically pleasing to look at and I'd rank them about equal with non logo cards. A /5 wins this question 99.9 times out of 100.

It all depends on the plate, and the /5.

In this instance, the plate would be my way to go.

I was going to say the same thing. Some plates look awful, while some plates look great. For instance 2017 Plates and Patches are full of gross looking plates.

To me a 1/1 is a 1/1 regardless if it's a base 1/1, or a plate 1/1. I would probably go with the 1/1 printing plate depending on how visually appealing it was.

I literally avoid plates like the plague. Hate the way they look. Much rather have /5.

Black plates tend to look better than other colors.

A plate can be a nice addition but I would prefer to go with the #/5 card every time.

I wish they framed plateslike that Jackson. The way they did plates in the mid-2000s was the way to go. There was one set last year that did something similar with a clear acetate on top of the plate. That looked sharp, but can't recall the set off hand...
