Default Meeting Bill Walton

So I just got a fun surprise.

I've known for a while that Bill Walton would be coming to an event put on by my company. He'll be in Salt Lake for a day or two and will present at our event. He's the key note speaker.

I just found out that along with one of our executives, I'll be meeting with Bill for a half an hour or so to chat and get a bunch of books signed. Pretty sweet, right?

So my question for you is this.... You get 30 minutes with Bill Walton.... what do you ask him? What do you talk to him about?

Some of you know that I'm a huge fan of the history of the game. So, I know who he is, what teams he played for, his greatest professional moments, etc. I listened to the podcast w Woj 6-8 months ago. Excellent stuff.

What would you ask him?

I'll just ask on behalf of everyone else on the board:

Can you ask him when he plans to retire from calling games so I know when I can start watching them with the volume on again?

If he had to only pick one Wooden quote to live his life by each day which would it be?

Just ask him to recap his favorite Grateful Dead shows. Then sit back and enjoy the trip! Also ask if he can give TBarn a call.

Or, for the rest of us, ask him when he plans on discovering the fountain of youth so he can call games from now until eternity.

The greatest two syllables of his announcing career.....

I will most definitely ask him what he remembers about this moment.

My favorite Walton clip of all time is a back and forth he had with Snapper. To loosely paraphrase:

Snapper - "Tim Duncan and David Robinson are the best big man tandem in the game today."
Walton - "WHAT ABOUT KOBE AND SHAQ!??!?!?!"
Snapper - "...I said best "big man" tandem..."
Walton (after a lengthy pause) - "WHAT ABOUT SHAQ AND WHOEVER!?!??!?!?!?!

Sadly, I have not found it anywhere online.

I would want to know if he was happier when Luke made it to the NBA as a player or took on coaching

I just watched the feud he had with Shaq.... Makes Shaq seem like a big jerk.... and a big hypocrite given his current career.

He's awesome though. I miss him doing NBA games.

I don't eat meat so I would pick his brain about veganism.

Met him at an Allman Brothers show at the Beacon in NYC maybe ten years ago. I loved that he was just another ticket-holding patron sitting in the audience rather than side-stage.

The dude standing behind him? Probably not so happy.

I would have a couple of questions...

"If you could smoke 1 blunt with 1 current NBA player, who would it be?"

"If you played a pickup game with Greg Oden, Danny Manning, Sam Bowie, Arvydas Sabonis and Yao Ming, who would crumble to their knees in agony first?"

"Over or under, Luke will win 8 titles as coach of the Lakers?"

"Who is your favorite team to watch?"

"Which Grateful Dead song best embodies the spirit of Luke?"

"Will you ever be on the High Court with Doug Benson?"

I would ask how it felt posterizing Kareem and about their rivalry.
