Default Anyone going to take the plunge and open some 2007 UD Premier

Who's in for opening some? What are your thoughts? $300.00 a box seems too high to pull a Kenny Irons Rookie Auto/Jersey.

Looks like 3 auto's with one being a rookie auto/jersey

2 Jersey's (those should be crap)

1 Manufactured Patch (How did these do in baseball?)

1 Base Card (Will sell better than the jersey's!)

Going to do a box.

As for the Manufactured Patches - a lot of them did well in baseball, especially the "old timers".

UD has lost any chance of every stealing my money again on wax. Lame sticker autos, redemptions you will never see fulfilled and horrible customer service if god forbid you get a damaged card or shorted on one of your boxes.

Saw it listed on Beckett for $297 from Medina Sports cards so it should be in the $250 range. These guys along with Sports Cards Etc on there are usually 25-30% higher than market pricing.

Similar to UD Premiere Baseball, I'd recommend not getting unopened wax and cherry picking off of an auction site whatever cards you wanted. I think you'd be much happier w/ your $300 spent.

In baseball a few $300.00 packs had two manufactured patches and I was pissed.

The best cards I got out my boxes was a nice gehrig, dimaggio, ruth triple relic #/25.

A nice ripken auto #/25.

A nice frank robinson auto with 3 relics.

A jose Reyes auto #7/7.

If it wasn't for the ruth, dimaggio, gehrig relic card I would have taken a bath.

This would be a tough product to open just a box or two....I think you need to do the 10 box in order to assure a decent return.

I'm going to agree with rudy on this one. Wait a couple weeks after it goes live and you'll be able to get individual cards you want real cheap. I snatched up some pretty good Premier baseball pieces for dirt cheap.

football doesn't have the long list of legends and deceased players as baseball does...SERIOUSLY DON'T GIVE YOUR MONEY AWAY to those hungry retailers and dealers !!

you will be better off putting your money in stocks.

I'll break a few because its football and I'm still on a mission to pull that one huge hit BUT I agree that the better value by far is in buying singles off of fleabay.

I opened 2 baseball boxes and pulled 2 great hits (Babe Ruth triple jersey and Pujols auto 1/5). I don't know if I want to press my luck with football, lol.

I think I'll wait and see how the initial breaks go. If there are a lot of crappy rookies and the non-rookies aren't the top guys in most boxes, I'll pass.

While not a very large sample to go by, the singles already showing up on eBay aren't very promising. I see very few non-rookie autos, and most of those rookies are the kind that won't make you 10% of your box price back. For now I'm staying far away.

If anything, if this stuff isn't very popular, it might lead to a small jump in price for the baseball version. Like UCLAalumni said, baseball has a lot more potential big autos and jersey cards.

Update: the shop in my area got it early. I was working but didn't get to open any, but here is what I know of that was pulled: (not that great)

Rookie Jersey Auto's: Figurs, Jarrett, Kolb, S. Smith, Lee Higgins

The other two auto's per box were pretty weak. They were mostly rookie auto's of guys that were not good enough to make jersey/auto's. The best was Selvin Young.

Most of them were #'d to /99 but one was a Filani #'d to /225. (Imagine pulling that)

The memorabilia were nice though.....some nice and some crap. One was a one color Rudi Johnson, but there was a Peterson Quad Jersey and a Calvin Johnson as well.

My buddy pulled a redemption for a Peyton Manning auto, but we can't figure out what it is #'d too. It says varied #ing.

All in all, it's not worth the $275 and up you may pay for it.....I would have to believe the Baseball had a stronger checklist, but the Football is pushing the idea of the Rookie Auto/Jersey per box. It is truly a hit or bust product.

without the retired greats and legends as in baseball, this product is more like a 90% loser compares to baseball (which i would say is a 70% loser based on what i experienced).

BNJ,

Based on how the UD Premier cards have sold, you will be lucky to get your money back from that box. If you want a good laugh, search completed listings for 2007 UD Premier on Ebay. For example, there was a Anthony Gonzalez 2 color patch auto #/25 that sold for $52!!! My Topps Chrome auto sold for $36 when it first came out and that wasn't even numbered or very hard to pull. If you do open any, I'd say open one box and be done with it. Don't go crazy.

On the other hand, I think SP Rookie Threads will have the opposite results. I think the sales on those singles will be very strong (letter patch auto's) and also the fact that the letters "SP" are in the product name. JMO!
