Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s finale will include nod to his Budweiser years

Dale Earnhardt Jr.‘s final ride will include a familiar look.

And there will be diecasts.

Lionel Racing unveiled a line of replicas for Earnhardt’s last race and it includes a nod to the paint scheme that he helped make famous in the years before he added an “8.”

The Bud’s run dry (his old car is above, his newest car up top) but on Nov. 19 at Homestead-Miami Speedway NASCAR’s most-popular driver will run a familiar look on the No. 88 Chevy complete with cherry red paint and the familiar black-and-white stripes that he drove until 2008.

“The relationship I have with Budweiser and the partnership that we had for all these years is a big huge chunk of my life and it will always be very memorable to me and they’ll always be a huge part of that,” he told ESPN when the Bud deal was done. “When I look back on it years from now, it will be a real positive thing for me.”

And it’s that thought that, according to Lionel, helped bring this new car to life.

“This is the paint scheme he chose to drive,” read a statement from the company. “Introducing the No. 88 Axalta Last Ride Chevrolet SS. From the famous red paint job to the familiar stripes down the sides, this is the car his fans have been waiting for and it’s going to be a diecast they won’t want to miss.”

The new ride will be made in two sizes — 1:24 and 1:64 — and also will have autographed options for fans. They’ll range from $7.99 for the small one to $189.95 for some of the autographed models. The cheapest auto checks in at $164.95. To see the full lineup, click here.
