Default Prizm Rookies----PSA or BGS

Hey guys I am not a big fan of grading (I won't get into how I think it's the biggest racket out there lol).... but it appears that PSA 10s sell for more then BGS 9.5s..

Is that correct?

And is there a reason for it ?

I like the way BGS gives you the sub grades but think the cases are big and clunky so I think I may prefer the PSA cases....

What does everyone else think?

In 4 years from now would you rather have a PSA 10 or BGS 9.5 of Gianis, KAT, Anthony Davis ect?

Thanks guys
Pat

Some people prefer the simple look of the PSA case (and the premium) some prefer the sub grades.

PDA has a registry which has added to it's collectability.

Whats crazy to me is I currently have 2 BGS cases (which I like the thickness compared to PSA) that the labels trickled through and are hanging down in the card area

Both Marcus Mariota that I have prob lost 200 on that I was going to sell when returned from USPS and I felt like the turn around time was a catch 22

Am I wrong here ? Never had issues with PSA labels

I think it depends on the subs of BGS right?

I'm by not an expert by any means but it depends. PSA 10 sells better than BGS 9.5 but BGS 10 sells for more, right?

If you see something on your card that is noticeable enough to prevent it from a 10 but it's not major, might want to try BGS since you still have a shot at a 9.5.

If you feel like the card is perfect (take the time to make sure), you might want to give BGS a shot just for an opportunity at a 10.

At the end, it depends on each person. Just my two cents.

at the end of the day its all personal opinion.
i like bgs alot more cause of the sub grades and the cases are much thicker and offer better protection all around.
im not a fan of psa and i will pay more for a bgs 9.5 over a psa 10 if its a rare card

General hierarchy:

BGS 10
PSA 10
BGS 9.5
PSA 9
BGS 9

PSA for value/turnaround and BGS non-guarantee is crap lately. I still personally like BGS slabs better ,but if you're in the it for the flip PSA is the way to go these days.

Ya, they still havent figured it out. Still get them all the time. It boggles my mind that after so many years and so many cards they still havent managed to fix it. It is their job!

In general too, I go to a restaurant, they do it as a profession and 50% or more of the time, I could cook the meal better than they do. Happens all the time in all things... rant over.

Yep, that looks right. Most prism's are easier to get a BGS 10 on than other sets I have noticed.

If the card looks perfect I would take a shot at BGS. Most other scenarios I am using PSA.

I used to think PSA labels looked generic with the red label, but I actually prefer it now.

I'd rather have a PSA 10 over a BGS 9.5.

Yep agree with this as well

With that being said I think the best cards value-wise are usually in the BGS 9.5 to PSA 9 range

I agree here but also like the security of bgs holders where I don’t have to guess if the case has been opened and re sealed with a different card of lesser quality or if the card, slab, and label are all fake. I wish after all these years psa would’ve figured that one out. I guess the supporters will say now they have but my response would be we will see.

IMO the standard (and what holds value best) is PSA, particularly for key RCs.

I have a few PSA labels that are wavy. It looks like they were printed on a very thin piece of paper. Very cheap looking that's my only complaint. I've seen the BGS labels that are crooked as well.

I had a few like that, and I sent them into PSA to be re slabbed. $7 each, seemed worth it
