Default Warning: Probstein123 Selling Trimmed Jordan/Lebron Dual Autograph

I stumbled into this auction today and immediately recognized the card:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2008-09-UD-...gAAOSw4PxaQodW

I purchased this exact card in May of 2016 and sold it a few months later. It was graded PSA 7 and has visible corner damage on the back of the card next to MJ. I sold it as a PSA 7 and the buyer cracked it out of the case and sold it as "near mint" a few months later. Not sure how many hands it's been through since. Here are two photos I took of the card back then:

Take note of the banner next to MJ's arms that has the number "15"

Now look at the photos in the eBay auction:

It is obvious that the card has been trimmed and resubmitted for grading. Sad that PSA does not keep track of these things when the card is serially numbered

Yikes... looks like you caught one here but like you said who knows how many hands it went through? They're job is to sell it and make both parties money .. I've def know 1 particular high end seller who trims, touches up, etc cards then resends consistently and usually gets the high grade after 1-2x resubmission. He's low level 100k year seller so I can only imagine what the big dogs do

Wow! That is one of the most obvious trims I’ve ever seen. Kudos to you for providing the hard evidence. You are correct. Given the technology available to us today it is concerning that the grading companies don’t track serial numbered cards these days.

Thank you for posting. I’d be interested to see what the consigner would say if they saw this evidence.

And then the scum uses the consignment operations to hide their bs. Probably the same guy that’s bidding on his own cards in the other thread.

To make it clear I blame PSA and not Probstein in this case, but I would hope that if you guys report the auction it will be removed.

I don’t blame the seller at all either. It’s the negative side of card grading. Cards can be altered & still slabbed. Once slabbed people pay attention to the label. It makes sense. However I would hope the seller would at least look into it and put the auction on hold. I did reach out to them through eBay to see what their take it on this. Even without the photos a jump from PSA 7 to PSA 9 is significant.

And people swear by PSA and BGS. And pay them for thier opinion.

This hobby gets more screwed up by the day.

If PSA cant see this then I dont know what to think about anything they grade.

I'm sure they'll remove the auction. Would be nice to know which scumbag did this.

Probably lurking around here. You're pure filth buddy!

That's bad to know, what a nice card! But I still wonder how could they make it right for the corner?

Google “psa worst mistakes” and get ready to laugh/cry. My personal favorite still remains a cerified legit auto on a boxing card issued after the boxer died.

To be fair I’ve seen the same thing regarding bgs, cgc for comics, you get the point.

PSA graded a Brady Championship Ticket without a Playoff stamp and with an obvious fake serial number.

*Nice eye OP.

Great stuff, OP. Would you mind posting the pics to a non-Photobucket site? They're not showing up in your first thread. I found the PSA 7 evrsion in Worthpoint, but the pics aren't very big. If you want, shoot me a PM and I can give you my email address. Appreciate it.

I bought a pack certified raw Jordan auto from Probstein a year ago. Upon receiving it, nothing looked obviously out of sorts. Fast forward to late this year and I submitted it for grading just because I like my PC items slabbed and it came back as altered/ trimmed. Needless to say, Probstein was anything but apologetic when contacted. I realize a year is a bit too long to wait but we're talking about a $700 purchase. I was not and am still not happy.
