Wow Panini customer service, HUGE rewards site replacement received wowwww

But I thought this one deserved it's own thread. Long story short, I got the Zach Lavine 1/1 auto from Panini Rewards last week for 2500 points and was pretty excited. A bit later I got a call saying that there was an error and 2 people were allowed to purchase it and I was the second one in order.

Now right there I'm thinking ok I'll probably get my points refunded and get screwed but what can I do. I wasn't in love with the Zach because it's a sticker auto, I was just mega excited to finally get a 1/1 which I always miss!

But a gentleman named Alex called and after a couple of calls and discussions, he offered me a different 1/1 in place of the Zach. He was super nice and easy to deal with and I was surprised what he offered. When he said he had a different 1/1 he could offer, I was thinking it would be some no name rookie I've never heard of or something.

I haven't followed basketball as much and don't know my values but I think I came out ahead! Don't really care either way because this one is on card, looks better and is of a better player. That Zach sticker auto was unattractive and this one is a beauty!!!

A 1/1 Giannis on card auto, crazy hey??? I was happy when I got the Zach, but was REALLY happy with the Giannis! What's really funny is that I have another Giannis 1/1 auto and I got it from the Rewards site too. They were selling the packs for these for 900 points so I got one... opened it up and it was Giannis. Still have it too! It is a sticker auto yes... but other than the sticker it's a beauty and almost has a 3D trippyness to it.

Panini Rewards has been good to me with Giannis autos lol! But in all seriousness, their customer service was amazing... they could have easily cancelled my order and refunded my points, but stepped up big time!

What's crazy is that it's not even listed on the checklist for that set.

There's a few missing which means they held multiple back.

What has likely happened is that the cards were sent to Giannis to sign but weren't returned in time for pack out. So they have these signed cards available which they use for the rewards site or as part of replacements for redemptions that will never be fulfilled. In Flawless they add these cards into the next years release.

That Giannis is a nice card!

I tried for the LaVine /25 Immaculate rc last week but got some error, so just said screw it..guess I'll call next time!

Congrats, Panini does seem to take care of their customers a lot better than Topps usually does

I believe it’s a rumor at this point, but the 1/1s go so fast it’s been proposed. A Giannis would have made it 1 sec before you click the cart button and then the dreaded unavailable error Lol

That card for that Lavine is a mega steal points wise. Panini isn’t all bad

First off - congratulations on your good fortune. The Giannis looks great and for it to be an on card is even better. To get that in place for a LaVine sticker auto is unreal. Good for you.

That being said, I am glad I'm not a Giannis collector or I would be more than a bit bummed. Sure, that the card is not on of any checklist and therefore not meant to be packed out makes it a bit more acceptable. Plus it is Panini's property to dole out however they see fit. But yeah, I would be bummed out.

It's a catch 22 for Panini, they can never satisfy everybody. yiguiri is right, they would get complaints if Giannis never returned his cards on time and people were waiting 2+ years for the redemption. They could also do exactly like they did in this situation and people will complain it wasn't in the product.

Congrats on the Giannis OP and glad they made up for the mistake on the LaVine.!
