Default My Personal Hall of Fame

Update:

Full Size: Mike Ditka & Mike Singletary

Full Size: Dan Hampton & Richard Dent

2003 40th anniversary full size signed helmet pair

Original Post
I'm sure many of you remember my quest to liquidate most of my cards a few months back.

https://www.blowoutforums.com/showthread.php?t=1171113

So what do I do with a pile of cash and lots of free space?

Well, I'm glad you asked!

I had my card collection in a bunker I made. It was a nice little room, humidity controlled, cinder block walls, an alarm and a steel door.

It was pretty much filled with cases like this

Since I started with a blank slate, I was able to move my Hall of Fame collection into it's new home. Just a little paint and some carpet, and I now have this:

Sorry for the weird angle, that room is long but only 7' wide.

And even with all that new space, I ended up running out of space.

I had to dump some into the arcade.

And after selling off all of my memorabilia, whatever wouldn't fit into my new theme of "Hall of Fame" or "Chicago Bear's"

I ended up turning random displays of things like this

Into a cohesive series of rooms that all matched one another.

So while I'm done collecting cards, for the most part, a collector still has to collect!

WOW, just WOW!!! I always much preferred the variety of color with autographs on team minis, but this looks so amazingly cool with all of the HOF helmets together!! Also love the background on the wall. How was the wall done? Just paint or something else? Very cool all the way through!!

Mother of God that's insane. So jealous of that Mortal Kombat arcade. That's my most wanted item that's non sports related.

Thanks! For the most part. I still find things to keep me busy.

When the Blackhawks ripped off 3 titles in 5 years, my oldest daughter and I painted a room for them.

Then when the Cubs finally won, my youngest daughter and I painted a room for them.

Just so no one thinks I turned my entire home into a gawdy Man Cave, I bought a 3 flat years ago and turned that into 1 big single family home. We left the smallest apartment alone, so it could house my junk. The rest of my home is perfectly normal LOL

Thanks! I like when things match. That is why I opted for the White Hall of Fame helmets VS team helmets for the HOFers. The full size team helmets I had for them, were just left over from my bigger PC before I sold it.

The Hall of Fame wall was actually on display in Canton years ago, it was a banner that hung in the entrance when you walked in. I got my hands on it a long time ago and just needed more wall space before I could do something with it.

I loved MK2 growing up, so when I had the chance to buy one, I did. I'm nostalgic AF for 80's 90's crap.

I once got bored in my work out room, and started adding 80's & 90's toys to it. That got out of hand fast.

Now I work out in a retro Toy Store.

I hear ya! My wife actually has a crazy Disney Collection in her own wing. So she cant say much. The hardest part is keeping the kids away from our stuff!

Man, that is so cool. You could be on one of those tv shows where they go through your house showing off all your stuff. Serious Chicago sports fan memorabilia collector.

Someday i hope to see you on American Pickers!

Just don't let Rick from Pawn Stars come over. "You want $100,000? Hmm...you know it's a lot of stuff, it would sit on my shelves a long time. The best i could give you is $30K"

I actually had a local outlet reach out to me, they were doing Bear's fans and their stuff. Someone that was on their show (a buddy) told them about what I had. I got chicken.

I live in a good neighborhood. I have a good security system. And everything like this in the house, is pretty well locked up. My paypal and ebay shipping address do not go to my home.

I don't know if I'm just paranoid or not. But I wouldn't want what i have squirreled away broadcasted all over my home town on TV. Not that this crap is worth a ton, and it would be hard as hell to resell since it is mostly unique stuff. But still.

Hey! That's not too shabby, but where are all the GI Joes in the toy room?*

*Note: I am old and my eyes are bad, so I may have missed them amidst all the other toy goodness.

It is still just as fun as you remember! Home game consoles cant replace the feel of that wheel in your hand, or the gas peddle under foot!
