Default Anyone got tips for Chicago visit? LCS, games, shows etc.

Im visiting Chicago from aug 2nd until aug 12th (i live in the Netherlands, Europe). I know there is not much going on concerning the NBA (no preseason, summer league, only wnba?). Considering to visit a Cubs game.

Im just looking for some tips from anyone living in the Chicago area. Any must sees basketball related, or other things i really should visit?
I will definitely be going to the United Center, gotta see that MJ statue

I might also want to visit a LCS if i have some time. Should i bring some of my cards, and if so anything in particular?
Does anyone know if there might be cardshows in the area during that time? Never been to one before!

Just looking for some general help/tips to make my trip even more amazing than its already gonna be.

Thanks!

I live about an hour from Chicago in the nw suburbs. Not sure about Chicago, but really the only LCS around me is one in Buffalo Grove. Card show wise, there is one still in Palatine (if you want to drive a little bit), which is pretty good. I setup there a few times, until healthwise I couldn't. The show in Palatine is on August 5th.

I live in the city and there isn't much as far as card shops are concerned. I go to Tim's occasionally for supplies and to chat about the hobby. He's usually got more baseball wax than basketball. Baseball Card Exchange in Schereville, IN has a ton of older wax to purchase, and is about an hour from the city. These are in addition to the ones noted above which was a much better stash of current products.

I would see Wrigley Field/Cubs game, tour downtown, eat at a steakhouse downtown (there are several really good spots to hit), etc, etc. They moved the MJ statue inside a newly developed atrium building. I would call over to ensure the atrium doors are open to the public during the day and not just open to UC/Bulls/Blackhawks employees.

Enjoy!

Hello! Hope you have a wonderful stay in Chicago. Unfortunately there are no LCS IN Chicago. If you drive about 30 minutes outside of the city you will find some.

There is a big music festival, Lollapalooza happening during your stay. Also many tourist attractions, Willis Tower, John Hancock building, The bean, Millennium park, etc.

Or as previously mentioned, head to Cleveland (6 hour car or bus ride) and go to an AMAZING card show.
