Default Retired Players who don’t sign anymore.

Maybe this has been done before but I’m trying to figure out which, if any, retired athletes have stopped signing or who have very little output these days. My curiously was peaked when I realized that Tom Seaver has had very few on cards autographs from 2008 to now, with a majority of his autos being on a sticker which doesn’t really mean he signed them recently. Bart Starr is another. I realize that age, and health are usually the primary culprits but am still interested if there are others who have also began waning in their hobby presence?

Manny Ramirez and I’m cool with it. I don’t want Topps to start flooding the market with his autos in every product and flavor.

Joe Morgan stopped signing with Topps at the end of 2010, I believe. I had a redemption for his 2011 Museum Collection gold frame auto that was eventually replaced, but it indicated Topps would put out redemptions for cards they didn't have lined up to make. I think he only signed a couple 2011 cards, like the Topps 60th insert. Panini, Leaf, and ITG have put out Morgan autos since then, but mostly stickers so they might have been signed any time.

Topps, at least, will go in cycles, it seems. They probably sign old dudes to 1-3-year contracts, then renew some and not others, then bring some back.

Very true but he was in so much stuff in the 90's that he kinda flooded the market then. I wouldn't want it now because his auto has changed so much. I prefer his auto with the Indians over the crap he was producing at a show a few years ago (I think it was a Fanatics show).

Looking for rare late 90's Cleveland Indians cards- if price is right.

Also possibly interested in current Indians (Not crazy about current card designs though)

Definitely, I don’t understand how some of his recent signatures can even be authenticated? Pure garbage.

Albert retired after the 2000 season; only had a brief emergence back into the hobby in 2012 and then nothing since.

He signed enough between 2011 and 2014 to last a couple decades.

Mays signs very infrequently now because of his eyes. Seaver had Lyme disease i believe which led to him not signing much. I also think Whitney Ford no longer signs

Huh, I play cards with Blauser's cousin. Have to ask him about this next week.

Mays doesn't sign due to his poor eyesight.
McCovey hasn't signed since 2012 due to declining health/desire.
Tom Seaver hasn't signed because he doesn't need the money with his vineyard being successful.
Mike Schmidt and Bob Gibson haven't signed for Topps since 2014.

Quite a few other HOFers sign for Panini, but not Topps (George Brett, for example)...

I drove down to Costa Mesa from LA just to get a McCovey twenty years back. When I got there it said he wasn’t signing due to knee surgery. That was a really bummer day. Tony Dorsett was there but not the same. Konan from WCW was there too

McCovey was my favorite player growing up.

Not sure how Topps managed to never make a Mays/McCovey dual auto.....
