Default 2011 Update Trout- should I go BGS or PSA?

Since this is a non auto card, should I grade it from PSA? Or stick with BGS.

I may eventually sell but it will be in my collection for a while. Looking for more protection

If you want your card to rattle around in the case, PSA.

If not, BGS.

This first part should not matter. Do you want a more valuable card or a more durable holder?

One of the companies should make an oversized holder that fits the other makers holder.

PSA graded card inside a BGS holder

OR

BGS graded card inside a PSA holder

Then everyone can have the best of both worlds.

If you have a jewels loupe 10x and can see under magnification that the corners and edges are perfect, and the centering is perfect, send to BGS, if it goes pristine or black label, you will be extremely happy. If it has any flaws at all, PSA is much more forgiving to achieve it's 10 grade and all other grades in PSA will outsell its BGS counterpart.

P.S.A.

Better resale unless you think it can get a bgs 10.

The others are right that PSA has a better resale value. However, I would say it depends what the card looks like. PSA seems to be stricter on corners, whereas BGS is a little stricter on centering. In general I think PSA gems tend to look better than BGS gems. I have some BGS gems that make me think the grader was drunk.

I ultimately would do PSA but if there was a close show coming up where Beckett is doing RCR I would start there. You get it back in a day and you are able to see a grade right then also the cost is $10 or so. If you hit a 9.5 send it to PSA, if it hits a BGS 10, send it to BGS.
