Yes.

Looks good. Hoping first season quality. I will say though, I thouroughly enjoyed Collin Farrell's character in S2.

Not a fan of his. I haven’t even seen season 2. Heard it wasn’t very good compared to season 1.

Season 2 was so bad. This looks promising.

Compared to season 1 it's trash.

It's kind of funny though. Episode 1 of Season 2, I thought at the time, was one of the best first episodes in tv history. It managed to tell the stories of the 3 "main" characters while at the same time weaving a plot that brought all three of them together at the end of the episode in a believable way.

But after that, it was all downhill. Such a mess.

If you watch season 2 and tell yourself that you're watching "Cop Drama" and not "True Detective's" it's not nearly as bad.

Probably, but I wasn't able to suspend my disbelief. There was still that one great episode we got out of season 2.

I'm really looking forward to this and I know I shouldn't. Not much is ever going to compare to the greatness of season 1, especially when you got such a downer for season 2. I'm a fan of Mahershala Ali though so I'm hoping he can carry it. It's all going to depend on the writing, though.

Obviously anything following the first season was going to pale in comparison. Heck I've rewatched the first season multiple times. It just never gets old. One of the best shows in tv history. I always assumed they'd rush another season and ruin it so I never watched season 2 and from what I've heard it was just plain boring which is the complete opposite of the first. However I think they've learned their lesson and made some major adjustments.
I am genuinely excited about this.

Season 2 had its moments and I think as a standalone show, it would have garnered a little more respect. But when you put the "True Detective" name on it, it seemed so much worse than it actually was.

I agree with this. Season one was one of the greatest years of tv ever. Two was ok, just not the same

I’m more for binging. It’s easier to follow imo.

Th problem with binging is that its gong to be hard to go spoiler free. Its also going to be a queezy story because it deals with small children.

Is this show really going to be that good and have that many people watch it that there are going to be spoilers everywhere?

Probably not.

Yea but if your not careful the first 3 episodes can already be ruined for you from early screenings.

Would never binge True Detective (or a show like it), a lot of the fun comes from fellow theories as you watch together. Apparently we're getting 2 episodes tonight, so I'll be watching them after premiere but I'll tune in beforehand since there's some Game of Thrones stuff before the 1st episode.

Was it good enough for me to go ahead and sign back up for HBO? Or can I wait for game of thrones

Go ahead and sign back up. The lead actor is great, I’ve always liked Stephen dorff but his character hasn’t grown on me yet, this seems much more like season one as you just have this feeling in your stomach that something bad is about to happen, and the story really grabbed my interest quick. If all episodes can be as solid as the first two, this will easily blow away season 2.

Thanks for starting this thread. I never try new shows unless someone recommends it to me. Started watching season 1 this morning (my day off) because of this thread and I'm enjoying it a lot.

I watched season 2 episode 1 last night but it didn't keep my attention. I'll try again
