Default PC Players Challenge! - Show off your 3 favourite card photos.

Few basic rules
- ONLY 3 cards or you're ejected.
- You have to own the card.

That was easy.....
Have fun picking your best 3 and feel free to rank them.

I'll start off.
#3 - 2004-05 Flight Team Onyx /21

#2 2000-01 Fleer Showcase Legacy Collection /50

And this one has always been my favourite........

2001-02 UD Flight Team Gold /50

@ljandkg
Good one!! And your KG #1 is indeed THE sickest one!!

To me- i had actually too many in my mind when i read that topic...but top 3 is top 3.
Kobe has so many crazy front pics, but the backs are great too!

3.
97/98 Upper Deck Defining Moments Kobe-Shaq-jones-van Exel

That pic of kobe celebrating is sooo nice

2.
97/98 Fleer Ultra Gold Medaillon Base Kobe Bryant

Kinda a top 3 no brainer ! That pic is just sooo smooth!
Gold background, purple and gold uniform, that dunk pictured like that...

1.
1997-98 UD Collectors Choice Kobe Bryant Base, Backside

Thats actually the very first Kobe card i have ever pulled and that pic on the front is awesome of him flyiing through the zone but i always liked the back pic much more.
So easy, smiling at a interview at the locker room with positive vibes

1997-98 Fleer Ultra Platinum Medallion #9P /100 by Mark Miller, on Flickr

2012-13 Panini Limited Curtain Call Materials Prime #12 5/10 by Mark Miller, on Flickr

1997-98 Topps Chrome Refractor Team of the 90's #51 PSA 10 by Mark Miller, on Flickr

This was tough. He has some really nice in action shots on 90s cards of driving, dishing, dunking... But I picked m favorite in action shot, a celebration shot, and one reason I loved Harp was because he was the perfect teammate... Not sure if this was a happy hug or a "I'm gonna prevent you from getting a suspension" hug, lol.

I will start with my Paul George player personal collection.
(sorry for the double pictures, I don't have these scanned individually)

Being a big time chrome refractor fan from the 90's, I was really glad Panini came out with something to fill in that emptiness of what once was a refractor, especially with these gold prizms.

These here are what I consider Panini's second best chase inserts to obtain into one's player collection.

#2

last, It was nice to see UD bring back these back. I would had preferred them in their NBA uniforms, but I'm just glad PG was included in this retro iconic set.

Thumbs up

OP, Great thread idea! The Garnett Flight Team gold's photo is absolutely crazy man, wow. What a card!

croatiantwins, awesome choices! The lower end stuff is actually some of the best stuff available for players from that era.

Harper, love that Panini card with Rodman on there, a unique photo can always enhance a card and make it stand out.

ChrisAC, the Select is easily my favorite, it would've been the auto, because that card on its own is gorgeous, but the sticker kills it for me, so I'm going with that Select. What a sleek card, very nice!

watashiwa, I love that Lebron photo, it's one of the best and if I ever had extra dough to throw around, I'd have grabbed every version of that card that I could find.

sotex, those golds man, so jealous. I don't own a single Kemp gold from any of the years he was included, those are outstanding cards and the fact that they match with the team's colors set them off big time.

-------------------------------------------

I don't know if I have a top 3, so I just went through picked the first three that stood out. These are in no particular order.

This is probably my favorite year of Ultra as far as base design goes and it's followed closely by 96/97. The 98/99 cards have beautiful font / lettering design overall and feature some of the best photography in any basketball product from that era. The overwhelming majority of Shawn Kemp's cards do not have very good photography, but this is one of a few that qualify as an exception to the rule. A dynamic photograph conveying frantic energy, the beautiful colors of the Cavs jersey from that era and Kemp's signature shoes make this one to have for any Kemp fan. I also chose to use the Platinum because it's my favorite one out of all of them, due to its background color, Kemp's player cutout is further emphasized, even more so than the gold and the base.

Next is from 92/93 Upper Deck showing off the Reignman's awesome, uncontested power culminating in a dynamic finishing dunk captured at just the right moment. Classic Sonics jersey at Key Arena, before it was known as Key Arena.

Finally, we have 93/94 Topps Stadium Club. This card right here, from this particular era, takes me back down memory lane. I remember Stadium Club was absolutely huge among the kids in the playground as it was one of, if not the most high end product any of the kids could get their change together for and buy packs of. The 1st Day Issue parallels were the (collectively) the thing of LEGEND. I was a little late to the game as I got into basketball in 94/95, but even then all the kids worshiped TSC. The raw power and energy emanating from this card makes Chernobyl look like a bonfire. You can tell he just shattered someone's immortal soul moments before this photo was taken. The greatest, most powerful, most vicious dunker to ever live, THE REIGNMAN.

lol I don't have many in game action shots. Most of the non dribbling or holding the ball is from the Premiere.

My PC is all over the place, only have a few players where I actually have 3 cards of haha. So here are some of my favorite of Dr. Js. Wish I could find an 09-10 LL to go in my PC.

There's quite a bit of a dropoff between my #1-2 and #3, so I hope to upgrade #3 at some point

Some ejections for sure!
But some great photos mostly.

Love that Kobe all star dunk card Kiki. Cool to see some card backs as well.

Abra - you always take the time to maximise pics in your photos. Gold star for you!

Tarheelsfan - very nice.

Chris-AC - You've done well!

But I like to think of the 3 cards as 1. If someone would find me a Topps Total gold of him I would gladly change it.

Awesome thread idea!! I'm sure you've all wondered at 1 point or another.....where are all of the super rare Darrell Armstrong cards?? Well here's a few. So many shiny colorful ones to choose from, but I think these 3 are my favorite pics.

Default PC Players Challenge! - Show off your 3 favourite card photos.

Great idea. Love all the cards so far! Here’s some from my McDyess PC.

#3 - 97-98 Ultra Platinum Medallion

Just a great looking card with an equally great photo.

#2 - 1999-00 Upper Deck Century Legends - 21st Century Phenoms Die-cut

I love this photo of him taking a shot over Olajuwon. McDyess was a beast and could keep up with the best of them. I’ve always wondered if he’d be up there with the greats if injures hadn’t plagued his career..

#1 - 96-97 Flair Legacy Row 2

My favorite McDyess card hands down. I just love the look on his face in both photos. Those first few years in Denver were just so awesome and this card captures that time period perfectly IMO.

Mindcycle - it was a shame about McDyess, I remember Laphonso Ellis also looked a fantastic player and his knees blew out.
For me it was LJ whose career shrank through injury..22-10-4 on 52% shooting his 2nd year, then sprained his back.

Rodman’s rebounding was so poetic. Card companies have done a great job of capturing his acrobatics. Panini, however, has been recycling the same old poses lately. Here are my favorite three out of a plethora of possible choices for best photo.
