Default How much were Precious Metal Gems going for in the late 90s/early 00s???

I was thinking back about how me and all my buddies were really into collecting during this period and how much money we all wasted on game jersey, game floor, Vince Carter player worn fatigues cards (LOL), etc., and how I wish I wouldve just bought some PMGs instead and the thrill of finding out how much they were worth when I got my box of cards out 15 years later instead of worthless cards I mentioned above. So what were they going for???

Do you mean this? lol

That was once one of my dream cards to own. Back then it was expensive even for the unsigned version (and tough odds too, 1:300 packs; signed version is limited to 300 copies). Of course now I have one, acquired at a much cheaper price.

Haha yep, don't think anybody ever had the auto version though. The only Vince auto one of us ever had was the Collector's Edge which I ended up with as I found it in the box I mentioned earlier.

My memory is a bit fuzzy because I was probably like 13 at the time, but I remember getting this card at a card show in Tucson, AZ for $50 at the time. I think I mostly traded some Jordan stuff for it and maybe a little cash.

Also, my brother traded a red PMG of Anfernee Hardaway for a Reggie Miller Autographics at the time and it was a pretty even trade. Think both were like ~200 bucks.

I still remember finding a Mutombo green PMG in an inserts box and paying my shop $20 for it. I got a decent return for it, but unfortunately I traded it away before the entire set value exploded..

I paid $1300 for my first Jordan PMG Championship. I wanna say that was around the same time UD lost its license circa 2009-10

It's fun going back and looking at the prices back then, and I agree, I wish I would have been picking them up back then too (luckily I was picking up all the Spurs players). But I was too busy picking up Jarvis Hayes & Larry Hughes lol

Haha I was a big fan of Hughes as well. I believe I found every RC he had except for the two big ones (SP Authentic & SPX Finite I believe) in that box I found.

Those MJ prices are ridiculous. Clearly I should've gotten back into collecting about 5 years before I did. I could've afforded both of those and then held them, sold them, and paid off literally 2/3 of my student loans.

Most players from that set feature a background with a landscape or cityscape from the region they play in.

Kobe has the pacific coast. Absolutely epic.

I'm going through this set on natturner's flickr right now. Laughing my head off at some of these. They really went for it when they made these cards, I'll give them that.

The 97/98 PMG Jordan was always highly sought after. As a kid, I had a subscription to Beckett BBK and vividly remember under that set, Beckett reporting a sale of a PMG green for $15K. That was around 98 or 99.

I used to have one of those and want to pick up another for the pc. A childhood friend of mine pulled 2 in one pack. If my memory is correct, weren't they worth about $150 at the time?

I remember seeing a red Jordan at a show in OKC around 2001 or 2002 with a $800 price sticker on it.

Probably more honestly during Vinsanity.

Sold my Tim Duncan RC PMG GREEN for USD$500 back in 1997.
Never known the first 10 copy is green when pulled.
It's the biggest regret for me.
