I'd prefer one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg either. I just worked out a trade with someone overseas and I usually never ship outside of the states. It's not a super valuable card but I want to ensure it gets there obviously.
Thanks!

That looks like it's going to cost $43. It's really not that valuable of a card. Is there a cheaper alternative that still provides reliable tracking?

Without intending to cause any offense to anyone, Taiwanese are the least trustworthy people I've ever dealt with.
I'd seriously reconsider trading to there. Or at least ask if there's a third party to ship to (eg COMC). |

Your best bet is to not ship there at all

Trading is pretty dangerous.
I'd need to see some pretty impressive feedback to do a trade on a high dollar item. On a lower dollar item just let it fly. How much are we talking?

Probably a $70-80 card.

I think if they have good feedback it’s worth doing. It’s not like bad or good sellers are isolated to one location there are bad people and good people everywhere. I know living in Australia a lot of people don’t like shipping because of past bad experiences with other Australians and I think it’s unfair to label a country and it’s citizens as all bad I.e Taiwan in this case. Funnily enough I have always had a great experience with Taiwanese buyers and sellers, the only 3 instances where I have had issues have all been US sellers/buyers.
And in answer to your question EMS with signature delivery is safest way any any case. Last edited by Kingchrispaul; 10-15-2018 at 06:22 AM. |

I've shipped to Taiwan twice. The first time I sent via regular post with tracking. The guy got it 72 days later. The next time - high end card - i sent FedEx International (priority i think). It was expensive, over $75CND(buyer and i split the shipping cost), but got there in 3 days.

I found that overseas shipping is only worthwhile if my auction/BIN sales were increased by the international bidding on my items, which would offset the losses I took by losing PayPal cases due to lack of tracking on USPS First Class International mail.
When I sold a LOT of items and had a LOT of buyers (USA and Intl - a lot meaning at least 2-3K in sales per month and hundreds of items being sold per week), I started to attract the attention of many legit overseas buyers, who were willing to bid high amounts because they trusted my service. So I'd get higher bids in general. The increased bidding would be offset by the occasional bad buyer who claims no delivery. However, once I started blocking those buyers, I found a nice balance and had virtually no international paypal claims against me. I believe that international buyers are fantastic on the whole. Totally honest, totally fair, and are willing to shell out of big bucks for nice NBA cards. But if you are a collector, selling just a few cards now and then, you can very easily be a target of an overseas scammer, and it may not be worth it to you to sell overseas. If you can't risk it, then don't. Hope this helps. |

I'm not selling or trying to figure out how to sell a lot overseas. I'm trading one card.
Are there any other cost efficient options?

Nope. Either expensive w/ tracking, or cost effective without. You may be able to go to the po and add a flavor for an up charge eg. Sig confirmation or insurance but I doubt it.

It was never about the shipping options, it's more about who you are dealing with.
Take a look at the guy's reputation and sees his trading or selling history. It's not possible a guy who maintains his feedback well for several years that will screw you with a not so valuable card. |
