Default What else do you collect?

I assume many baseball card collectors enjoy collecting other things as well. What else do you collect? Other sports cards? I collect whisky -- mostly single malt scotch and mostly for personal consumption, but I'm also always on the lookout for something that will likely appreciate.

I have been collecting sports jerseys since I was in my teens:

I also collect vintage Star Wars figures (I have an unopened 1979 Luke Skywalker figure) and original Gi Joe’s & Transformers.

Aside from baseball cards, I collect coins, I metal detect and have a big collection of neat things Ive found. I collect video game stuff (mostly NES and N64), signed first edition copies of books I really like as well as any older books.

Coins, silver and gold bars, other sport cards. Lately I've been buying business cards autographed and some historical papers autographed.

I love cards, but game used items will always be my favorite items to collect.

Presidential/royalty autographs. I just picked up the attached recently instead of an expensive baseball card I was looking to get.

Sometimes it’s amazing that you can get something like a Teddy Roosevelt autograph cheaper than a Mike Trout autograph. So when I’m about to buy a card of x player I’ve been asking myself lately is it worth it or should I get something signed by somebody who changed the history of the world?

I also dabble in memorabilia. You can usually get a full gamer bat for roughly the same (or a little more) price of those 1/1 bat knob/barrel cards.

Just click on it. It’s a Napoleon framed auto, JSA certified. A letter to his minister of the treasury Mollien regarding taxation.

ok, this might be one of the oddest, small, in progress, collections. Dr. Charles Pusheck items. I am sure that I am the ONLY person who collects his stuff. Our guest room is "The Doctors Office"

This is awesome. Really gives some perspective... a baseball player's autograph or JFK's... Love it. I bet you're an A&G fan??

Books, but only sort of. The only ones I would deliberately "collect" would be First Editions of anything by Jim Harrison. Still need a few of his titles in any edition, but not many.

Records; about the same there, now. I plan to sell the whole collection, maybe next winter. Except for all the original release, color vinyl discs from The Flaming Lips. I have most of them.

And seeds. I am a professional seed collector of tree & shrub seed, for use by nurseries to grow new seedlings. Not the same thing as the question, I know. But I do have the word "Collecting" on my business card.

That's very cool. I was just telling my son today I was thinking about picking up an autograph of Napoleon, Lincoln and Hitler.

Aside from newly restarted collection of unopened and FF variations..

Silver (ASE only)
Old small clocks (have to have great eye appeal and low value)
Soda and Dairy porcelain crate tags (signs)
Vintage fence signs with strong focus on local
Vintage Local and CA. signs
After shave bottles. Well kinda. (small collection) Only Gillette Cool Wave. Think I have 4 different variations.

I actually have a question about this. My folks have a collection of whiskey bottles - a set from 1976, with a theme of Heroes of the American Revolution, or some such. Like this one:

I think there are 10, or 12 of them, they have a complete set. They displayed them in a really nice case made of Wormy Chestnut, that my Dad built, for a long time.

Lately, they want to re-purpose the display case, or maybe sell it - it might be worth more than the bottles.

So they want to sell the bottles. But from what I understand, this isn't as simple as one would think - because they are still sealed. So eBay is right out.

They asked me to look into it, but I have no idea where to even derive a guess on value, or much idea of a way to sell them, beyond maybe placing them in a consignment antique shop.

For silver I'll do poured Engelhard bars but I also do ASEs. I pick up at least a roll every year.

I collect vintage Honda motorcycles and memorabilia. I have a handful of choice Honda motorcycles and anything I can get my hands on that has Honda advertising (literature, dealer promos, signs etc...)

Here is one I have that is still New Old Stock from 1967
