Default "Please ship securely"

Please ship securely

Does this message make anyone else laugh when selling something on ebay? It isn't a big deal but I always think......

"Oh man! I was planning on shipping unsecurely until you requested secure shipping. Now I will change my packaging plans to secure it."

It's the small things in life that amuse me.

I’ve gotten that message many times over the years. Ironically never for a card worth more than $5.

Same here, it's always on low end cards. I guess they picture a stamp stuck straight to the card and dropped into the mailbox?

If nothing more, they should realize if someone has thousands of positive feedback with no negatives that their shipping method probably works ok.

I always get a kick out of "Please make sure to put the card in a new top loader before shipping"

There’s a few autosend messages out there that state “Please be sure to ship this highly collectible item as securely as possible” or some bologna to that nature. It’s funny. I have to look at the card twice over to make sure there wasn’t a 1/1 stamp I missed on it.

I recently shipped a card in a toploader than in the one-touch my eBay listing showed the card in and the buyer freaked out. I was all out of painters tape so I used packing tape over the top, figuring whatever...

Hi. I just got the card td. Why did u removed it from the one touch loader ? Thre is no mention into yre description. Also, why do u use scoutchtape with a hockey card ? Really desapointing.
Quote:
No. Sorry. This is not true. U just have to put painting tape. There is no menion into yre descriotion that yre gonna manipulate the card and use ducktape to ship it. Now I have to manipulate it again and i have to removed that ducktape. Unreal.

I don’t know. I bought a ‘52 Warren Spahn a few weeks back. The guy put it in a top loader and a thin bubble mailer; no cardboard or extra padding. The card came back completely destroyed. The card was bent up and ripped, the top loader was cracked. So, while I wouldn’t ask a seller to ship an item securely, I’m not surprised someone else might.

If something got crunched in the mail, it would have gotten crunched with extra cardboard too. All of my cards regular cards get mailed that way and I have never had an issue.

Card->Sleeve->TopLoader->Bubble Mailer->Post Office.

I offered him 15% off- purely based out of fear he would return an empty envelope my way, or intentionally #@#@#@#@ the card up.

I got this message last week from someone that took one week to pay. I went out my way to make sure it was extra secure because the only feedback this guy leaves is negative feedback and always about shipping and damage. Apparently he liked the packaging, he didn't leave feedback or message me.

So you gave him what he wanted and will teach him to do this to other sellers.

Should have done the "If not happy return for full refund." Odds are he would not return it and if he leaves a neg that gives you a chance to get it removed.

There are many here who will say you were wrong for not sending it in the holder you had in the photo.

Also share his Ebay ID..

See he has one positive trade. A little research shows it was a PSA 6 Mantle for a soul. Positive feedback received.

Depending on the year, that seems like a fair trade.

I do kind of hate it when people use packaging tape to wrap everything up or on a top loader. I use masking tape it's so much easier to get to the card and remove it instead of cutting everything.

Usually when you get a message like that, they're a problem buyer. Got one like the op mentioned last year and sure enough he wanted to send back the card. Said it had a little damage which was total BS.

If I purchase a rare or expensive card from someone that doesn't sell a lot of cards or someone that doesn't sell a lot period, I usually ask them to ship carefully and offer instructions. I learned my lesson when a Garoppolo Tie Dye Auto arrived severely bent because it was just put in a toploader in a large bubble mailer and my mail carrier was terrible at their job. I understand why someone who sells thousands of cards might find the message humorous, but some smaller sellers honestly don't know how to ship properly and it doesn't hurt to emphasize the importance of secure shipping.

Exactly. There is only so much we can do as sellers. Sometimes the PO just makes a mess of things.
