I just watched this. My first take was "From sneaker flippers? C'mon!" But then I had to remind myself that it could be, because I just know nothing about them. I do think sports cards are on a pretty significant upswing overall, though. It is fun to watch, but would be even more fun if I got into what I wanted to get into, earlier

Yeah he got caught up in a little bit of embellishing informed opinion to a clueless audience. But on the whole most of what he said could prove to be factually correct.

I agree. Tbh he did say it will really take off "over the next 3-5 years". I guess with the way the markst has been going, might not rule that possibility out completely.

Could a Zion 1/1 Prizm be pulled from retail? Maybe he isn't wrong in that case?

The shame about the Zion hype as opposed to a sleeper who builds slowly is that Panini is going to produce a crazy amount of cards this season. I wouldn't be surprised if they even add some more products just to cater for the Zion frenzy.

The retail point doesnt matter.

A card shop, who packs out boxes could contain a 1/1 Zion.

Celebrity chef Graham Elliot has been posting more on twitter about his vintage collection. He has some nice cards

Problem I see is that he is really suggesting that people will start opening packs as a means to get those cards, and I think we all disagree with that. Also I’m a shoe guy and he is mistaken saying that sneaker heads will look for different avenues to invest in the sports realm. I know many and it’s not a sports related connection it’s a fashion item. I don’t think that’s a natural connection.

But I do agree with his cycle of toys coming back due to parents having kids and living through them.

Also I noted he only mentioned basketball players, I think basketball and football are the wave of the future. More people know those guys.

Also way to many quotient marks.

Basketball runs the card hobby/business and it isn't even close.

I work with a guy that flips sneakers, so he and I were trading stories about our respective hobbies. When I showed him the prices of Trout stuff he couldn't believe it. He grilled me for 30 minutes on the hobby. The wheels in his head couldn't turn fast enough. So I believe what this guy is saying.

Basketball has higher highs but a lot of lower lows.

Baseball is the safest and most horizontal market.

Agreed. Was looking more at which sports the most money comes in from. I obviously don't have stats/facts but would have to assume more money comes in from basketball as a whole than any other sport

Have to agree to a certain extent, but I would believe the opportunities in basketball are plentiful.

Basketball to me has the highest amount of high limit gamblers, so the fallout is greater and dealers can pick up the tears....I mean the leftovers on the cheap.

I've been doing the flipping thing for awhile and I'm well aware that basketball is where all the money is. But I can't see myself ever getting into it. First of all I don't like basketball and secondly I only ship within the United States. So yeah, have fun with that ya'll, it's not for me.

I think baseball brings more but it’s across a much broader line.

Honestly i think alot of the newer prizm stuff is just artificially inflated by bulk sellers at release. alot of money was made on luka early...alot of money was lost on him later. happens every single year in basketball see ben simmons, kat, wiggins, etc. the only constant has been giannis
