Talking 90s guys - you'll get a kick out of this

I recently picked up a couple of old Beckett price guides for nostalgia's sake and to read the old articles. I came across this one that briefly touches on the technology and history of refractors, including the polarity between "peel" and "never peel" camps of collectors when it comes to the protective film on cards. The article is really quite interesting but unfortunately, the last sentence did not age very well. Enjoy.

Great find.

And now we're finding out the same thing about modern day ink on acetate.

Aren't the autos ok on acetate if you keep them in the dark and out of sunlight?

I think that helps, but some of them just can't be helped. I think it's the chemical reaction with the ink and the surface.

Oh ok. I guess I've been lucky then. The few that I have don't have the boldest ink you'll ever see, but they are still very good and haven't gotten worse since I've had them. (Fingers crossed)

I've more noticed that autos are streakier on acetate.

Good read. So did they ever produce glow-in-the-dark cards?

They might issue market tenets instead.

I don't think they did one for basketball, but I did have a few non-sport glow-in-the-dark chrome cards from the 90s.

I also like how Dino Radja is one of the Finest cards pictured in the article.

We all know how the white-skinned get it the worst. #SlimeTime
