Default ALERT: Jordan 1996 Precious Metal (PWCC)

Please be advised that there are 2 cards currently listed for auction on PWCC that are slabbed as the "Precious Metal" parallel for MJ from 1996 Fleer Metal that I am almost certain are the base card and NOT the rare PM parallel, i.e., the slab is incorrect and it is a PSA error (can someone please confirm that I am correct; the PM version I have is completely silver). I have sent a message to PWCC so hopefully they take the cards down since it is highly misleading and incorrect.

I would hope anyone in the market for a Jordan PMG would spot these are mislabeled immediately. However, it would be nice if PWCC noted this in the description.

>>> Conspiracy Theory... PWCC took the title from what PSA labeled the cards as. Isn't this a poor reflection on PSA and not PWCC?

Oh I just noticed that you were referring to the precious metal parallel. Either way should be noted in the description.

If I try to sell a Chevy Malibu that has a Corvette sticker on it as a Corvette that is on me and not the person that put the sticker on it.

That’s awesome. I found that card raw and graded it. I still have the before and after pictures. I know I didn’t sell it to you, so it’s changed hands at least twice.

You paid someone to value that car, and sold based on their valuation. I think they would be liable, don't you? Wouldn't be similar to get a house you are looking to buy inspected. The inspectors shows nothing wrong. You buy the house and realize there is termite damage that has been there for years, who is reasponsible, the new owner or the inspector?

That would make sense if PWCC didn't actually know better. As one of the largest entities in the hobby, it's their job to know better and to disclose obvious mistakes like this.

Sad, but seems PSA has no clue what they are doing. Check out this recent alleged Kobe 1996 PM RC (PSA 10), which sold on eBay for $895. I'm pretty certain this is the base card too. Can someone please confirm. Thanks.

OP, you're correct, the 96-97 Precious Metal is full silver.

Here is my Kobe for reference (again, full silver). That Kobe is also a base card I think.

Before those there were/are two mis-slabbed Kobes up as well. Not sold by PWCC, but fair warning. Clearly PSA has trouble with these for some reason.

I belived PWCC and PSA are to blame. PWCC with the GREAT pictures...... Just a LITTLE darker..... PSA is to blame as well because when you pay for someone to grade your card they should label it correctly. Maybe they should have an UNSURE option.

Jeez.. That's definitely the base card.. Can't believe someone paid $895 for a card that's probably worth $10 or 15 bucks..

While I agree that PSA takes a large part of the blame, I do think a buyer should be educated enough about a $1000 card before they make such a careless mistake.

honestly, HTF does this happen.

whoever bought that is gonna show it to someone with half a clue n get pretty disappoint.

it pays to be informed, but that slab from PSA is a nightmare of confusion n wrongness.

as mentioned the darker pic from PWCC speaks volumes as well.... its almost like they are trying to make any hay they can while the sun is setting......

Conversely, Probstein sold a 1996-97 Jordan Precious Metal SGC 9 on February 18th that was graded as a regular base. It got $475

These mislabeled ones...what about the owners of the cards...surely they know what card they sent for grading. Should’ve been corrected when they received it back. They should be held accountable for this too.

So after all the cards that have been exposed as trimmed, mislabeled, etc...why is anyone still buying from any of them?

From nowadays technology it seems not difficult to measure the card's dimension without touching the card in a very accurate degree.

Understanding that some sets of cards may have a little bit smaller dimension ex-factory, but seems like psa/bgs grade trimmed more relax than everyone standard.
