Default setting up at the National.... come on by!

To say I’m excited for this year’s National in Chicago would be a harsh understatement. This is something I look forward to each and every year, and it’s one of the highlights of my summer. I also think Chicago is the best location for it by far. It’s so nice to just talk cards and sports all day and be surrounded by people who share common interests. And I always enjoy seeing members from blowout and Instagram.

Last year was my first time setting up at the national and it went extremely well, so I’ve decided to give it another go. I’ll be set up at booths 153 and 252 with MC Sportscards, Quickconsignment802, and RBICru. (This is a slight adjustment from what I posted before...there was some booth adjusting in our 'quad'). Won't be sure of what exact booth I'll be in until we get to the show and set things up, but they are right next to each other so I'll be in one or the other. All are friends of mine and love wheeling and dealing as much as I do. We are very easy to work with, and we are always down to trade as well if you want that big money card but don’t want to spend all of your national funds. Trading is what keeps the hobby fun for me!

Feel free to reach out to me ahead of time via PM if you plan on attending and have anything you would like to sell. I think I got deals done with 6-8 members last year via PM before the show even started, and then they just came by my booth to get the cash from me and drop off the cards. There’s so much to do at the national and so much to see, so sometimes it’s nice hammering a deal out ahead of time so you can maximize your time at the show, especially if you are only going for 1-2 days.

I’ll be posting plenty of preview pics as the show gets closer of what I will be bringing. I’m will be putting out 3 showcases, but be mindful of the fact that I’ll have PLENTY of other cards with me that just didn’t make it out in the showcases. So, if you want to see more, JUST ASK! I'll have signs in my showcases of what types of stuff I have more of, and I'll also have the Brady three row box that was quite popular...so just ask to look at it (no room to put it out). I can guarantee that I will have one of the better selections of Tom Brady at the National. I’ll have dollar base, both raw and graded inserts and serial numbered cards, raw and graded refractors, raw and graded 2002 cards, graded rookies (low to high end), and raw and graded autos. There will be something for everyone if you are looking for the goat, whether you bring 10 dollars with you or a few thousand.

I can also guarantee you that you will find one of the best card selections at the entire show at booth 155. MC Sports Cards and Quickconsignment802 always have unreal high end stuff, as does RBICru (his bargain boxes are always a HUGE hit both in his shop and at the show). I’ve also started to venture into basketball and baseball myself (more so basketball), so I’ll have some cards of the top studs in each sport. It won’t be just Brady this year… just mostly Brady 8-). Whittling down my Peyton Manning PC as well, so I’ll have some solid Peyton Manning cards available too...jerseys, patches, autos, and a bunch of graded rookies.

The bottom line is this… you won’t regret coming by booths 153 and 252. You don’t want to buy anything? No big deal… it’s not like I expect everyone I see at the show to buy, sell, or trade with me. But come say hi and introduce yourself. It’s always nice putting a username to an actual name and face. While online forums and social media can be good, it doesn’t compare to actually getting out and interacting with people in person. It’s healthy!

If you have any questions about anything, let me know. If you are interested in anything I post in my preview pics, let me know and we can try to work something out ahead of time if you wish. I always try to be fair with all of my prices. Don’t be afraid to make me an offer on anything...worst I can say is ‘no thanks.’ I’m not the type of guy that gets offended by offers.

If you are on instagram, follow me (dacaptain37) for the updates I’ll be posting while I’m at the national. Once the show begins, I really don’t post anything here...everything is posted on IG since it’s so easy to do on the fly. I just hope the cell service is a hell of a lot better in Chicago than it was in Cleveland! If you don’t have an instagram, I’d HIGHLY suggest getting one. I was very reluctant last year since I’m not a big social media guy, but I did it before the national last year and it’s been awesome.

Let the countdown begin...Looking forward to seeing everyone!

UPDATE: Here's where I will be! You'll see there are plenty of great dealers in our area!

I hope to some day be on the level that you, MCS, and QC are on... until then, I'll meagerly throw out some Brady cards and other stuff

Yup... won't be a very far walk... pretty loaded area from what I've seen from the floor plan and dealer list.

My guess is that your area of the floor will be the go to place for modern. Indy Card Exchange is gonna be right there as well. Great bunch of dealers and guys here folks.

Yep. They finally started figuring it out last year. Put the guys with more modern in the same general area instead of spreading them out across all the vintage weirdos. Seems to have carried over to CHI, which is great.

You do know the exhibitors pick their booths in a lottery, booths aren’t grouped by anyone .... the people doing the show longest pick first and so on and so on.

Yes, I am aware of the seniority priority. With that being said, I noticed a distinct difference last year in the modern vs vintage segmentation on the show floor vs my first 6 years of setting up when everything seemed much more haphazard.

It's always been my feeling that you need a junk dealer like bdrr at your booth to even things out.

Best wishes this year, Kevin.

I'll be taking care of a newborn but know where to find you at all of the local shows in the area.

pics of the brady and lebron collection I picked up... crazy story here...

A friend of a friend contacted me knowing I'm big into sports cards. Both of these lots were storage locker finds. The storage locker was purchased for 100 bucks... that's right... 100 bucks! Little did the buyer know, there were four totes of sports cards and memorabilia in the back underneath other items. These Brady and Lebron cards were in there. Most of this stuff will be off to beckett and psa (first batch of 8 cards was send to beckett last week... should be back in time for the show...the rest will be graded with psa at the national most likely). Crazy find... someone was lucky enough to win a lottery of sorts with this storage locker purchase!
