Default Vintage Cards with a hole in them

Been a member for a week, but my first post.

Dad brought his collection over. He has numerous 64-68 Mantles. However, when he was a kid he put a small hole in the card. I’ve tried attaching a picture but haven’t figured that out yet.

Would this guarantee the card as a PSA 1 or AUTHENTIC?

Thanks for any feedback as I know very little about grading cards.

pin hole or 1/16, 1/8th or bigger?--authentic yes, not altered. the rest of card matters here.....

This is my favorite pin hole card. If it's not worse than this, you should get a 1.

PSA has started grading cards with pinholes as PSA Good 2. Some even slip by and get PSA 7s.

Heres a better picture. The hole looks like it was made with a smaller hole punch. Name: IMG_4744.JPG

What would the benefit be to grade or just sell raw? Also, how would I go to price these types of cards? Similar to what a PSA 1 or Authentic?

I don't see any benefit in grading low end. Probably not worth the expense. I see a 1.5 68 Mantle on net54 right now for $75 delivered

That hole is significant, no reason to grade that.

Thanks for the feedback.

I’d still like to sell. However, I don’t even know how to price them. PSA Authentic or 1 comps? Or neither?

Kinda hard to pinpoint a grade but besides the hole the eye appeal is important , and the card you pictured is pretty good..... You will likely get around 10 percent of high Beckett .... If I were you I would try to auction at a price you can live with say like 50 on this 67. If it doesn't sell then lower to 45 then 40 then 35 etc

What about this card? Not hard to see the pinhole, but very little paper loss and a nice-looking card overall.

Thanks!

New member here and for my first contribution, that larger hole is in the wrong place but in certain years with excess stock there were rack packs that actually used a single card as the "header" card to hold the racks on the shelf. Not too clear on what years they were but I know I have a 1971 Topps Pete Rose header card still in its portion of the rack. I need to find it and learn how to post a picture but they are pretty cool to stumble across.

There's a guy at my local show who has been selling a 1957 Topps Warren Spahn with a pinhole in it that's almost impossible to see with the naked eye. If not for the hole, the card would grade out a PSA 6 or 7. As is, it's in a PSA 1 holder. Seems draconian but rules are rules, I guess.

Pinholes are our friends. They can make unattainable cards obtainable while pretty much ensuring that they aren't altered.

I'm surprised you want to sell 'em given the really nostalgic family legacy that comes with a cool story about your dad's childhood given the lack of life-changing value of the cards.

I bring this up because you may grow up to regret selling these family heirlooms for such little money they're worth, I'd think his heirs or your heirs would treasure these more than anyone buying 'em on the cheap

Here's my card with the start of a pinhole. The hole does not go all the way through the card, as the back looks fine. One of my favorite cards. I have been told multiple times that it would only grade out as a PSA 1 because of the defect. It's PC forever so I have never really wanted to grade it.

PSA will now award cards with pinholes PSA 2. I have seen about 4 in the past two years given 2s instead of 1s. I'd guess the Williams gets a 2.5 or 3 with the surface blemish. The Orr is a very nice card.

A little hole never bothered my sensibilities. I display this card proudly.
