Juiced Balls: How many players have set career highs in HR's??

I've been hearing a lot of "And he has now hit for a career high in HR's" lately. I was wondering if we can track how much of the MLB really has done this. Not including rookies of course.

I'll take the Yankees:

-Gio Urshela(20)
-Luke Voit(20)
-DJ(24)
-Gleyber(36)
-Tauchman(13)
-Clint Frazier(11)
-Gardner(23)
-Sanchez(34)

Of course some of those players never played as much as they did this year(tauchman, Luke) , but I'm sure this is relevant for most of the other teams. Might be missing someone but I think that's 8 right there for the Yanks.

Granted, he's missed a ton of games previously, but even factoring pace...it's an eye opener.

Mike Trout, Eugenio Suarez, Christian Yelich, Freddie Freeman, Josh Bell, Max Kepler, Kyle Schwarber, Alex Bregman, Eduardo Escobar, and the list goes on. The balls are obviously juiced.

All professional American sports will do whatever it takes to capitalize. They stand to gain when they create the narrative to drive interest. Not all of it is scripted but when they have their largest audience you can guarantee that they are manufacturing the drama.

Sammy Sosa going from a poor man's Ruben Sierra to averaging 60 home runs a season for 4 years tops it for me. Also Mark Mcgwire going from being a Dave Kingman clone to a guy that averages a home run every 6 at bats is beyond silly.

I blame Statcast. No one wants to see the statcast breakdown on a 340 ft HR with 93 mph exit velocity. They want 475 ft and 115 mph. More overall homeruns is just a bonus. It’s a drug. Now they have to keep buzz going until the sport is a complete joke.

Well, we've been reading stories the past few years about people having career years as they adjusted their launch angle. Just seems natural that every batting coach now has the entire team working on launch angle. I'd be curious to see launch angle stats year-by-year.

They aint getting rid of the balls ever .....home runs are what most people want. Seriously, if Trout, Acuna,Soto etc etc had 10 to 15 home runs less how excited would everyone be? Mike with 35 homers ,100 RBIs and a .290 batting average isn't all that thrilling

Did they asterisk when they lowered the mound? This isn't the first time HR rates go up and won't be the last. HOF voters will just take the era into account when they vote.

The asterisk was done to reflect people who cheat, not to reflect a change that impacts every player.

The asterisk was done because cheating Roger Maris' Yankees played 8 games more than Babe Ruth's. There are no asterisks next to Bonds, other than in some (ok, many) people's minds.

You're right. I had a baseball records book that had an asterisk next to the steroid guys names so I assumed that was the case in the official record books. The asterisk idea is even dumber then.

The biggest indicator that the ball is juiced is watching players this year go from the minors to the majors. In a usual year you are lucky to see a few good statistical performances by rookies. This year just about every rookie in baseball is crushing the ball out of the park at a rate that does not come close to matching their statistical output in the minors. Once they change the ball back you are going to see most of these guys struggling to stay afloat in the bigs.

MLB officials realize what is occurring, but it's changed the game and probably not for the best.

Actually, I've read a few pieces on the record number of home runs hit this year in Minor League Baseball. They actually have a clear-cut reason: they switched to using the MLB ball.

Crazy rookie performances is a phenomenon that's been happening for almost a decade now, it's uncanny. We have teenage and early-20s players making their MLB debut and immediately performing at All-Star level. Aside from Trout and Harper you can start at 2013 with Machado, Puig, and JoFer and find at least a few kids just show up and play every year. It's what has pumped the hobby up and the reason why production numbers just keep going up. We're on a crazy ride at the craps table.
