Default Buyers Beware – Retail blasters of Contenders Draft Picks 2019

Geoff has created a really awesome YouTube channel, and in the latest episod he breaks down the results from opening 20 blaster boxes of Contenders Draft 2019 Basketball. I understand these have never been great sources of RC autos of top tier prospects, but the panini points problem is a real issue, as it's a form of currency created by Panini, that they can print literally millions of at the collector's expense.

The scary highlights were:
1. 50% of the boxes contained Panini Points cards as opposed to actual autos.
2. The autos that were included in the other 50% of boxes were guys that weren't even in the 1st or 2nd rounds aka all undrafted prospects.

See the video for yourself:

Always terrible Blasters being terrible, color me shocked. Not sure why people thought there'd be any good autos or anything from these. 150 points is better than 99% of autos you'd get from these so they're honestly doing people a favor.

The 2018 Optic blasters were not bad though. Have seen people pulling at least 1000 points from those

No news there. Number one rule of Panini retail. Retail contenders is always terrible.

Panini's goal is not to serve collectors, but to get you to spend lots and lots of money. It seems to be working.

Take away. Don’t spend $800 on a product you know nothing about. Contenders blasters have always been like this. 5 minutes of research on YouTube (where the guy posted) would have told him all he needed to know.

You mean to tell me some guy that calls himself "Sports Card Investor" spent $800 on one of the two worst retail sets in basketball?

50% points is ridiculously high.
No matter how weak the auto checklist for retail Contenders Draft normally is, buyers never expected that they would have to pay Panini an extra several dollars to get their auto.

Zion is the last player you should be chasing as a sports card investor, throw all of your money into Bowman and Prizm and hold.

1500 and 2500 here. Then I had to pay $8 to ship my $4 cards, haha
