Several people asked and now the thread is here. They say hindsight is always 2020, so what is your foresight in 2020?
1.) Stay away from opening any retail Prizm. Don't want to get caught up in the Zion hype. 2.) Stick to singles. 3.) Add 1 card to the Standing "O" Gold embossed set that I don't have. 4.) Not be such a negative nancy to a certain blowout member (ya'll know who I'm talking about). 5.) Spend more time with the family. Cardboard will always be here, but family is the most important thing in our lives. What's yours???? |

I might have to participate in this thread this year. But it will require a little more thinking before my list is ready.
What Standing golds do you still need?

1. Finish off my Clippers/Vols Nameplate (Need an H, P, and A if anyone wants to help.)
2. Add $0 to my COMC account (use only flip money) 3. Be extra patient buying Tennessee rookies. 4. Stop paying friends/family to seemingly trustworthy people. 5. Buy the Blake Griffin patch I've had my eye on for over a year.

1. Treat myself to a 1/1 of someone I don't plan to collect.
2. Get a Galactic in hand and hopefully fall in love with it. 3. Pick up a Logoman along the way. 4. Collect an equal amount of Luka and Trae. 5. Stick to Hachimura and Herro hunting for the year. |

1. Do a better job slimming down and tightening up the PC than i did in 2019
2. Buy less thick cards. If it doesn't fit in a binder I don't want it (Exceptions for exceptional patches - but they really have to be amazing) 3. Pick up a big vintage rc 4. Be more generous - I started giving away more cards to kids at various holidays, celebrations and such and i want to keep building on that. 5. Do not spend more than MSRP on wax of any kind. I don't need anything in this hobby enough to pay the ridiculous mark ups that are currently infecting the hobby.

1. Break exactly zero sports wax. Only buy to flip or hold.
2. Buy MJ. 3. Buy LeBron. 4. Make better offseason purchases. 5. Pare down my low-end inventory. Shift focus to more high-end.

My 2020 do list
1 Only buy singles or 90s wax. Don't get caught up in panini vacuum. 2 Finish my 90s BGS sets. Netragous Golden touch, Hot numbers, Net Assets 3 Sell my Kobe Bryant autograph and RC PC when he is inducted 4. Add Jordan, let go of cards I don't particularly love to collectors who may absolutely love them. 5 GRADE WITH BGS AGAIN! PLEASE reinstate subgrades to bulk order 250 cards ready for grading now and 250 in 2020. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk |

1. Fill out my KPJ / Windler PCs
2. Buy more LeBron 3. Continue my living legends collection (RCs of guys who I loved watching play when I was younger) Bron/Wade/Dirk/TMac/AI etc... 4. Stick to only PSA10s for my Triston McKenzie collection 5. Get my love of the hobby back. All the fraudsters / hype men / flippers have really soured my view of the hobby over the last few years. I just want to get back to the basics and ignore all that stuff and continue collecting what I like.

1) Get back to building sets
I feel like sets are the backbone of the hobby. After seeing Smalltowns Zfolio Binder post I've slowly tried to figure out how I can fill out some that I've picked up with different sets. Generally speaking, picking up stuff like insert sets is a cheap way to enjoy the hobby and also gives you a wide variety of players to choose from. 2) Sell cards that appreciate drastically for no reason I picked up a TON of Lebron Optics when the product first released and have slowly been selling off those cards. I don't really care to dabble in that stuff and keep it, because I'm constantly thinking about how the cards have appreciated and now that they have value should I sell. I enjoy money, but I don't really enjoy cards that are worth a ton of money just because I don't like to think of cards as a commodity. It takes the fun out of the cards for me. 3) Fill a Zfolio of RJ Barrett Base Prizm RCs Having said the above, I still like flipping cards to pick up PC cards and this project is part of that means to and end. I also love those Zfolios and would love to be able to flip through one comprised of just base cards. I have no reason for choosing RJ Barrett or anything, but I think it would be fun just to flip through and see 360 of the same card so I've slowly been picking up his base Prizm RC at $5 a pop. They've gone down a bit which is fine, because I'm going to need a ton. Hypocritical of me after dogging those who have done this in the past, but it's just a means to an end. 4) Continue to focus on snagging Jersey #'d cards I'm someone who will pay up for Jersey #'d cards because I find them unique and an interesting chase. Why would I want a Stephen Curry base Noir card? I wouldn't, but if it's jersey #'d 30/79 I'm interested. I don't care too much for Jersey #'d inserts or parallels just because I find it a bit watered down, but that Jersey #'d base I'll take. I wish ALL cards we're numbered. Give me a numbered base Prizm RC to 60,000 and I'd be happier than ever. I don't know why Panini hasn't done this. I'm a firm believer that any card company should stamp every card they produce, and believe that this is the next "innovation" in the hobby. 5) Try to focus more on my Daughter's Birthday # PC My daughter has a birthday of March 23rd. Kyrie Irving, Gordon Hayward, and Moses Malone also have this birthday. I've slowly been picking up cards either numbered 3/xx or 23/xx from the above players. No, don't @ me because I'm not paying a premium on this or anything so just stop, but occasionally if I see one at auction I'll buy it. I find this a fun way to enjoy the hobby because: A) It has a personal meaning B) The players aren't horrendous C) It provides a decent chase at an inexpensive cost I don't have to worry about the cards appreciating because cards of those guys are just going to get cheaper and cheaper as the years go by. Maybe in 15-20 years I'll have a hoard of low-numbered Haywards that I can burn when my daughter realizes how much money I've wasted. |

I feel bitter this thread was started in the first place. I understand there is no such thing as dibs in forum posting but at the same time contemplating why I even contribute to this forum in the first place.

1. Get a LeBron auto
2. Work on organizing and selling/trading anything in my collection from a non-PC player 3. Don't participate in ANY online group breaks 4. Only buy singles with PayPal/COMC credit from other sales 5. Don't bust as much wax as I did in the last 2 months of 2019

Major Goal: Create an actual PC - I've been haywire on who I've collected in the past year and I'd like to this year focus to 5 to 10 players and go from there.
Other goals - break more cases - when I saw break I don't mean buy breaks I mean buy cases and break them myself. I plan to do this pretty heavy on the baseball side starting with flagship. Get more binder focused, I love binders, I love the idea of flipping through all of my cards - flipping through top-loaders sucks |

1) sell anything that is non pc
2) take some of my PC, make it non-PC, then sell 3) Stop busting wax from sets I don't collect (shouldn't be hard, I only break maybe 3-5 boxes a year right now) 4) Focus on my LeBron and Jambalaya PC's 5) Condense |

1. Sell off all non-PC cards that I feel have no chance to go up in value. I don't really do the "investing" thing but also think it would be foolish to sell some RC's that have a chance to rise in value.
2. For current Piston rookies, only buy Prizm/optic singles unless I get a can't pass up deal on a 1/1 or on card auto. 3. Pick up Harden Topps RC (been meaning to for over a year) and Melo SP Authentic Rookie Signatures Auto 4. Pick up more rare Donovan Mitchell RC's 5. Pick up a big vintage RC (thanks for the idea smalltown)

Ah good here it is.
1.) Pare down everything non-PC- seems a relatively common theme thus far. I need to do it to fund my collection and clear space as well so it's doubly important. 2.) Continue upgrading storage- I bought several of those Harbor Freight cases and they work pretty well. I still have literally $7k-$8k of MJs sitting in a Jordan shoebox, however. Fitting, yes, but definitely in need of an upgrade. 3.) Get more cards graded- Seemingly, every time I start setting aside funds to do this, a rare 90s Mitch comes up that I don't have and grading falls by the wayside again. Gotta be more vigilant on it. Damn I miss those group BGS subs ![]() 4.) Find new avenues- I love BO and of course we all do ebay/sportlots/COMC, but I'm hearing more and more that I need to get on IG- which I don't even have. Finding Mitches I need at this point is legitimately difficult, so I need to be more proactive about hunting them down! 5.) Finish (or discontinue chasing) some sets- I have a lot of 90s set projects, mostly inserts, in various stages of completion. I'm stubbornly trying to trade for a lot of them and it's just not working. I really need to either tap out on a lot of them or finish them. Hope everybody nails their goals!
