Default Has anyone had trouble getting a refund from COMC?

I have been a big user of comc for the past 4 or 5 years. Recently I bought a card that was about $75 and when it arrived it was creased. I contacted them and they said no problem, return it and we’ll issue a credit to your account. They received the card in early November and said I should have a refund by Thanksgiving or so. I waited and didn’t get a refund. I would e-mail them every couple of weeks or so but it was the same message, just keep waiting a few more days or they would just not reply.

Now it’s the middle of January and I still haven’t gotten a refund. I get the same message. They received the card, the return is pending they keep saying it’ll come next week, but they’ve said that for 2 months now. Any advice on how to get my refund? Also I wanted to warn others that refunds seem to be an issue for them right now and wanted to see if others are having trouble getting money or refunds from them. I’m honestly shocked that this issue hasn’t been resolved, they admit they received the card and keep telling me 3 to 5 business days but never actually do anything just constant misinformation.

I love their service and have spent a mid 4 figure amount on their site every year since I’ve found them. This is the first major issue that i’ve had so I would be disappointed to not be able to buy from them going forward but between the trimming issue and this customer service issue that might be my only option. Any advice or similar experiences from others on the board?

Yes, they are slow to refund people right now since they've taken on a lot of extra work and didn't seem to hire many new people to cover it. They've been having to refund a bunch of trimmed cards from some major consignors and now they've added ebay auctions through COMC.
Send them an email with URGENT in the title. Taking 2+ months to issue a refund is ridiculous. We've discussed it a couple of times down in the COMC/eBay/online forum at the bottom of the board.

I always assume that a business that doesn't refund on receipt of the goods is a business that doesn't have the money to issue a refund.

They lost a package once and I was refunded with ease. It took a few weeks but they did it. I assume that if another package gets lost that I'll be exiled, but so far it's only been once.

I was just wondering about this last night when I seen an auction from them. I was thinking it was new because I'd never seen an auction from them before.

Thanks for the advice, I’ll try that. Didn’t see the separate board for comc, I’ll read through that too.

Has COMC notified a SINGLE person due their own investigation of buying an altered card or has it all be reactive refunds?

This is probably the case. They don’t have funds to cover 75 bucks. It sucks because they have the card and your money. 2 months for a refund is totally unacceptable in any business.

I personally pulled all my listed card from them months ago. I have a feeling they are on the downward slide.

Given that getting items back from a company in bankruptcy can be challenging, refunds not being processed is a real concern. If it’s from inattention/mismanagement, it’s a really bad look from a company that requires a degree of trust for their business model to work.

I know and what’s even more weird is all they have to do is credit my account and I’ll buy cards, it’s not like I even will take money from them. Granted the seller could withdraw funds but I will spend it on their site. E-mailed them last week no response and e-mailed them yesterday with URGENT in the title with no response yet, (not surprised since it hasn’t been too long) but will keep everyone posted if they respond. Also paid to ship all my cards to me just in case of any trouble.

Update: I was finally able to get my refund from COMC. They were apologetic about the lack of response to previous e-mails and promised to expedite my refund. I guess putting URGENT in the email helped. So thank you for suggesting that. I’m not sure if they read the boards but posting about it may have helped too. I wish that I could have worked it out privately with them but after waiting two months I figured that was long enough. I actually really like their website and will still use them but I will just be aware of the poor return situation. Thanks again to everyone that helped and if you are having similar issues just stay persistent.

It's like the airlines, if you DM them on Twitter they won't respond to them. If you put them on blast and publicly call them out, you'll get help much quicker

Do you have any thoughts on why it would take them 2 months to give a refund?

And OP.....You had to shame them on a sportscardforum...................if you did not call them out here, you would still be waiting for your refund

It's going to be an interesting day when they go out of business and have an inventory of 21 million cards that they don't own.
