Default Ebay Bucks + Government Checks = Get Your Cards Listed!

As a seller, if you haven't thought about it, you are going to have a magical moment coming up in 2-3 weeks. Buyers are going to have an influx from ebay bucks, as well as their government checks coming in from the stimulus package. Yes, some people need the money to replace their lost income and buy groceries. But we all know how responsible people in this world are. A lot of money is going to be thrown at fun stuff with their free money. And since you can't go anywhere, that means online shopping. Prepare yourself, and get everything listed that you want to sell. Should be great for sellers.

Id be too afraid to sell on ebay right now... No protection with the rules the way they are, i fully expect SCAMS to rise significantly. The old you sent me the wrong card, or empty package scam... Or future returns if country cant get out of this

Absolutely no issues for me thus far, and items have been flying.

I believe April 6th is the tentative date for disbursement but could be wrong as its taken this forever to get through (so people have time to get listing!)

Just be careful selling. If it happened constantly when economy was GREAT, imagine the risks those people woulke now when they need FOOD, gas, etc... I pray no one gets scammed but its higher risk now than ever selling on ebay. My fear is what if two weeks from now, Stimulus is gone, country is worse than ever... Opens yourself up to returns, scams, etc...

All that said, SPEND THE BUCKS IF YOU GOT EM!!

I will probably just max out a Roth IRA with my check or buy a case of something I couldn't normally afford. Decisions.

Seems like that is a better date for them to actually get them out, originally they were saying 4/6 and 5/18 but that's when 2 stimulus checks were in the discussion (no idea what they agreed upon at this point, I don't trust major news sources to analyze financial documentation accurately- waiting to read the bill)

Its not gonna cover much at all for those truly affected (NYC/CA/WA) as the cost of living there is so dang high

I expect most people to take a vacation. Married couple with 3 kids will enjoy Disney for free.

Family of 5 will run about $7k for 5 days if you aren’t a Florida resident. Plus who wants to spend more time with family after this.

Jesus, with the phase out being where it is at from an income perspective I hope people don’t rush out and buy cards...

After not having any sales for over a week, I have had 3 in the last 10 hours. Small sampling but I think SOME people have had enough of the Chinese virus and are ready to get back in the game.

Government refund check?

I am still working as we have contracts w the Department of Defense.

I don't need the $. If I get a check, I'm giving it to people I know that lost their jobs because of this, not spending it on sports cards.

The government saved about 10% of the amount by doing the income phase out but added a fair amount of overhead. I get why they did it and the optics make sense, but I think they could have sped up the checks to those who needed it a TOUCH faster by skipping the phase out and clawing it back on 2020 taxes. As others have mentioned, for many who may be out of work or short on work, when the checks do arrive (best case 3 weeks if the IRS knows your bank account, IMO)... it's going to not be a whole lot.

If you are banking on this little economic bump to drive sales, I think you'll be disappointed.

I still don't understand this. I have never had a "empty package" scam pulled on me in thousands upon thousands of transactions. Does it happen to you regularly or something?

That's a great idea, and one I will have to talk with my wife about. I love this.

People do need to take care of their priorities first but Americans haven't exactly proved they are good with money. Not the ones who will/are being affected the most at least or else they wouldn't be living check to check. Live with in your means.

That is exactly right. The reason the majority of people live paycheck to paycheck is because of bad decisions. So no reason to think it will change now, especially with "free money". I expect a buying frenzy and will completely shocked if it doesn't happen.
